ODI World Cup 2023 Fantasy Draft

Our VC got dropped. One of the many that haven't performed for us.

Hb made a terrific call picking Madushanka though - he was the last player picked in the entire draft after no one wanted him and he's picked up the most points for us.

In hindsight I think something that @Krypto alluded earlier might have been the right way to go about this. Have representation from all teams, not just the ones that you believe will make the finals.

I reckon our plan to pick up allrounders was a good idea but it looks like most teams don't have superstar allrounders who are the main point getters for their team and they're mainly guys who contribute a bit in whatever way possible to their teams. As such I think we may have been better off targeting the likes of Kohli (a superstar in good form). In fairness, we do have one like that in Starc.

Our biggest mistake, however, was spending as much as we did on Green. Not only was it a gamble that did it not pay off but it put us in a difficult position in terms of getting other targets. We were unlucky with Stokes getting injured and Wellalage has had a disasterous WC so far and he's rightfully lost his place in the side. Salman has surprisingly not featured at all for Pakistan, which is disappointing to say the least.

Having said that, Dutt and Meekeran have been excellent point getters and Madushanka has been brilliant. Inglis too seems to have won a starting slot ahead of Carey. Those guys have definitely kept us in it against the odds and have been well worth the low amounts we bid for them.

Quite a few changes in our leaderboard. Shri jumps to 2 and Silva Foxes to 3. Weeman is down to 4th from a long time first position. So far, 137 players have been used in this world cup and we have almost all franchises now playing with a full roster of players now.

Basically half way through the group stage and it's surprisingly close, some clear favorites emerging and some very interesting results. This world cup has been anything but predictable. So to the draft itself.

Pleased to not be completely out of it however barring injuries not seeing points coming from some of the guys I was banking on. Still pleased doing reletively well on my first of this kind.

Hope everyone else is enjoying the world cup.

We have a new team owner topping the table this week. Shri gets to the top on the back on vice-captain Klaasen's supreme six hitting skills. Weeman gets back to the top 3 too with De Kock's century.

Angelo Matthews coming in as a sub and directly playing is a interesting spanner. If he was part of auction, definetly a player I would've tried to pick up for a bargain. I'm sure I wouldn't have been the only one.
