haha bro haris rauf is better than the vast majority of cricketers on the planet, even if he was a worse player than he is.

he's also had some pretty damn good days, and i thought he looked like a chucker when i first saw him. he's certainly better than a snide comment to his family member from a schmuck like you and i.
I think he meant he used to tell him how good he was when he was playing second grade for Wests, but he didn't believe him until he popped up in international cricket a couple of years later.

He has to have mental issues and they've been getting worse. He never used to be as bad but his shot selection has been bonkers the last few years. He's become obsessed with the reverse/switch hit and kept playing it religiously even when it's a horrible option. Like they'll put 3 fielders back to cover the switch hit and leave the regular sweep open but he will still keep playing the reverse like he has some compulsion to do it.

He still manages decent returns because he's so talented but with a head on his shoulders he could have been anything. Genuine wasteman
Yeah, his cricket smarts are clearly as low as they can get. That shot last night, the u10s wouldn't play that. That's in the Shannon Gabriel hall of fame for worst shot in a situation of all time. He got **** for the leave all those years ago in the BBL that bowled him, but this was way worse.

Shame, because he seems like a good, decent sort of guy when I hear him speak.

Also a shame for Australia given they're carrying two guys in Stoinis and Maxwell who should be dropped for their core role but are either holding on by the skin of their teeth because they bowl ok, the selectors don't believe in anyone below them, they're backing them to improve based on the greatest of miracles, or all of the above.

Not sure Australia’s middle order batting can be overly criticised on their performance in this game. The innings ran out of gas after the openers turbo charged it, but at 0/259 the innings wasn’t one that best suited Smith or Marnus. The former in particular didn’t seem to settle into the role required by the circumstances he found himself in. While Marnus was reduced to a hitting role that isn’t his game.

Therefore the biggest disappointment was Maxwell and I think his dumb first up shot derailed the whole innings thereafter. Maybe they should’ve kept Smith at 3 and let him build while Warmer still had runs in him. Then he could’ve anchored us to a higher total with Maxie, Inglis and Stoin providing the tempo. So I’m not too worried about our middle order as the faults are down to form and choices rather than class imo.

Didn’t see the Pakistan chase but thought their bowling came back as well as expected after the opener’s blitz.

Maxwell shouldn't be dropped, even if his bowling wasn't so useful in these conditions. Bloke's averaged ~40 in ODIs at a SR of 120 over the last few years IIRC and he will fire at some stage. It's just not as often as it should be

Yeah Maxwell is an idiot but he's been good. You can't drop someone just because their modes of dismissal are annoying.

It's not as if what he was trying to do was outrageously dissonant from the game situation anyway. He just needed to wait a few balls before trying it and even then, it's always possible to shell one to a fielder.

Pakistan looked within reach after 38 overs.
Needed 103 runs from final 12 overs and were 4 wickets down.

Interesting cherry picking of scores...he averages 24 in 17 ODIs since the start of 2022, and I can't seem to bend statsguru around enough to see where you got 40 from. Granted he batted 7-8 then, but he's failed to produce much at 5-6 this year. I stand by the fact he's not good enough to bat there anymore. It's not so much the shots he plays to get out (although it is sometimes) but he bats like a teenager with ADHD. It's often wanton, ill-calculated rubbish like Spark said earlier. It's fine if you want want to bat for 10 balls. He'd be perfect in the role Chapman is playing so well for NZ at 7. But he's got a nose bleed at 5-6 and definitely 3 with 16 overs to go the weird way he bats now. But he's bowling well and Australia have no depth

It's his stats from post 2019 wc up till the start of that series where you guys toured us before the 2021 t20 wc after zimbabwe. Their was a stretch of games there where he smashed ENG in ENG, got promoted up the order a few times vs india in AUS than made a really good 80* chasing vs sri lanka. He had a bad time of thing's in that NZ series and has struggled since, so those numbers probably aren't reflective of where he's at now. Fair to mention that he's also been randomly moved up to 5 and 6 this WC, which was stupid after how we built him up for the tournament, but I digress.

He's also just come back from literally breaking his leg and barely exercising for months let alone playing cricket so who really knows where he is at now tbh. Doesn't seem to be worrying him bowling though

His bating's not great atm but imo his bowling's the best it's been in many years. There was a period when he was behind Head in the bowing pecking order and he often was pretty crap during that time.
