India looks totally unbeatable. Even if the batters get the start then their spinners manage to stranglehold in the middle. Jaddu and KY are masters of this. Then two overs from bumrah in the middle and few at the death too deadly. Fielders look like million dollar.

With Hardik gone, we have to ask who is our Mahmudullah.

Explain why Shami who has been one of the best ODI bowlers in the world his entire career, cannot get in the side?

Like Australia not picking Starc or Afghanistan Rashid.
To be fair Siraj has been even better leading into the world cup. But has been quite indifferent since the tournament started. I'd definitely like Shami to get match or two to remain match ready. Today was a good day for that I think.

Not sure whats the complain with siraj. Hes been picking wickets at crucial moments. He got Abdullah shafique plumb at crunch time. Today he got Miraz. There are plenty of examples. These are flat pitches and not everyday he wont have spells like 6/something against SL.

Was more Thakur I was on about. He just seems too easy to score off in this format.

He's India Sam Curran. Capable on his day only they come around rarely. Least Curran has years on his side. Thakur only just younger than Shami.

Anything but India would be a big shock. Only chance is probably if the semi final is on a flat pitch and a powerful opposition batting lineup click.

Has been bowling a fair number of "hit me" balls each game.

Thakur is a proper stop gap. I completely forgot he's 32. Honestly don't see Curran progressing much further but yeah at least he's young.

Well, Shami is nowhere near as good as Starc for one.

He is a good bowler, but his stats (mostly the average) flatter him imo, had the occasional tendency to to get smashed in the important part of the game and then pick some cheap wickets at the end - this is somewhat shown in his economy rate as well.

All this is not to say that he is a bad bowler in any way, he'd be our first choice bowler for 85-90% of our ODI history (i.e. before Bumrah came along), but he really didn't show any particular gap to Siraj before the cup started. He would also easily get above Thakur as a bowler, but the setup believes they need someone capable of some batting there. Shami used to be okayish with the bat early career but for the last few years he has been little more than a meme. Of course, this assumes that Thakur has some ability with the bat which is an open question.
