Subs rates ponting higher than both Kallis and dravid against spin
Slightly but none were great against spin overall. The reason I put Ponting slightly ahead is because he was a front foot player who used his feet well and more likely to put most high quality spinners off their length as he did against Murali.

Ponting had the most flawed technique of any great batsman ever against spin. Cannot believe this braindead revisionism.

Hard hands, always a bat-pad candidate, and didn't have a good sweep. Honestly amazed how anyone could argue he was better than Dravid or Kallis vs spin but you outdo yourself daily. It's impressive.

What's wrong with you? I already said that he wasn't great against spin, for some of the reasons you put btw.

I don't rate Kallis or Dravid that highly either. Lead feet, techniques too orthodox for sharp spin, and generally allowed quality spinners to lay their traps. At least Ponting could unsettle a spinner off their length by stepping out of the crease but it's a low bar.

Dravd had issues against Warne, but the way he played peak Swann in the 2011 tour was masterclass stuff, especially that 146 at the Oval.

Ponting did well against Murali in the 1999 tour of Sri Lanka, but apart from that he hasn't really done much against spin.

Ponting played one of the best innings against the moving ball I've ever seen in his stint at (I think?) Somerset. It was in a televised one-day game on a complete green top. No-one else could stay in, Ponting scored 80-odd not out and single-handedly brought home a low-scoring run chase.

So he played well against some club level 115kph county trundlers that were moving the ball a bit

Haha yeah I get the conditions weren't good but I'm not sure scoring 80 in a county one dayer is the best example we can find of Ponting playing movement well.

I think Dravid was better against spin, Ponting better against pace/bounce, lateral movement from the seamers is close.
