For my "not quite allrounders" list, I'd probably go Kallis > Marshall > Wasim, with very little between the 3.

Sachin Tendulkar vs Jacques Kallis
Think this one is close. Tendulkar is obviously the better batsman, but who’s the better cricketer?

Marshall is far better than Sachin on his secondary skill and quite close to Kallis. On his primary skills he is slightly but clearly better than Sachin. Plus bowlers are more important than batsmen.

The gap isn't that huge as you are saying it is. Sachin for all his fault was still a top 6 bat.

Marshall test batting av almost 19, 1st class almost 25.
Tendulkar test bowling av 54, 1st class av 62.

They do but generally not their job. They set games up for the bowlers to win.

It is insulting to both Tendulkar and Marshall to give one the nod because of being a better tailender. Man, you guys on CW really lose the plot sometimes...

I was considering doing this. But think Marshall is very slightly better as a bowler anyway.
