English Domestic Season 2023

Vince gone with 50 still needed from 9 overs. I wonder how long Hampshire will keep going for this if they lose a couple more wickets.

Ah, it's beginning to rain. If Chelmsford gets the same sort of downpour as we just had in London then that's all for the day.

EDIT
Controversy now. Dawson caught low down at short fine leg, but it's not been given as the catch wasn't clean, and he went on to reach 100 soon afterwards.

Dawson now gone. Great finish. How will Hampshire's last 4 wickets approach this?

Boo Hampshire all but handing Surrey the title

Dawson has to be on the plane to India mind.

Despite realising their are only 14 games it's daft that the two top teams only played each other the once. A game that the weather came to Surrey's aid too.

Looks like Sky are not televising a game next week.

Very disappointing. The climax of our domestic cricket season and they don't seem to care.

While the title may be nigh on decided, Kent v Lancs or Notts v Middlesex would surely be of interest. Their daytime schedules can’t be that packed.

Ah well. Less of a contrived result - Essex gave it a go and came up short.
I think you're being pretty gracious about it. Without the play being lost to rain earlier in the match, Essex would have taken a different approach to their second innings, set a much higher target, and we'd probably have seen a different outcome. I know the Championship reflects the whole season, but Essex are entitled to feel a bit grumpy about losing ground to Surrey given how this round of matches played out.

Looks like Alastair Cook is going to retire from cricket after the last match. Probably the right call. Seems as though it was a tough day for Essex. Utterly the right call to try to go for the win, but weather influenced the decision which they wouldn’t have taken given even two hours more play.

You don't need to worry sir, as much as @HeathDavisSpeed may want you to
Oh but I do ......

Obviously 5 points shouldn't be beyond us, but Hampshire are a good side who are quite capable of dismissing our depleted batting for under 250. Northants just did exactly that, and Hampshire's attack is superior to theirs. No idea about the weather forecast tbh.

Hmmm. Didn’t get a notification, strangely.

Look, for Essex to win we need to grab maximum bonus points in a win whilst Slurrey gain few or no bonus points. Just in case Surrey do lose, they’ve unnecessarily signed Dan Lawrence for next season.

This farce with players coming into the matches on the second day because of the One day International with Ireland.
Crawley will be jettisoned in tomorrow for Kent, others likely at other matches.
It is becoming a joke, maybe ECB should have scheduled these matches a little closer together.

I'm becoming increasingly disillusioned with the game.
