20 Greatest ODIs (by ESPNCricinfo)

I'm not convinced the 1983 Final is a lock in. There were plenty of nods given to it in the Kapil entry in that the win wouldn't have happened without that knock. I wonder if that's '83 covered?
The 83 final should be a lockin but it feels overkill now that the Kapil match got it.
Interesting perspective - I don't think that Kapil's match being included should mean the Final is omitted (IMO that Final deserves to be there on merit) but it would free up a slot.

There is already a surfeit of India games. Having two from the same WC, the first game having hardly no footage or attendance, is an obvious bias.

Is that the match from the World Cup? That's surely not one of the top six ODIs of all time is it?
Why not? The intensity in that game was insane, you had an Anwar ton and then an ATG knock from Tendulkar. Also, that game marked a switch where India became dominant over Pakistan in ODIs.

Belongs in the top 20 but I don't think they will overlook it.

The Kapil game deserves it out of all three. 175 back in 1983 when India was 17/5 and facing elimination and went on to win is one of the most unbelievable matches of all time. I would skip the World Cup final. The 2003 game is one I remember every ball in and would beat several other India matches but I can’t put it in the top six.

I want the 1996 World Cup final, an incredible match particularly in the context

Yeah, the '87, '92 and '96 Finals were all hugely significant in their own ways and deserve a spot. But if it's only going to be one of them (and I think that's the most it will be, if any of them make it at all), then I reckon objectively it has to be '96.

And, notwithstanding the mention of his brilliant fielding in the 1975 Final, we are edging ever closer to a top 20 with no Viv.

His 183 has to make it

One great knock doesnt make a great game, especially a knock nobody saw.

The fact that no one saw it adds to the mystique and yes, the comeback makes it a great game
What mystique? It was against a minnow and apparently all the drama too place in the 1st innings.

You have no idea what kind of game it was, what was the tempo or intensity. This is just clutching at straws.

It was considered by observers at the time as the greatest ODI century and it still often considered as such

Wow all ten people in the stadium consider it the best innings ever.

Tell me about all the sweat and tension in Zimbabwe's innings too. Must have been a real cracker.
