Crazy to think he didn't get a FC debut for SA after taking the 5/3 in the 15 a.o with some proper line and length. After 7/39 will surely be playing a full season for the Redbacks.

Chances are he'll be out for months due to stress fractures by December. Again.

Seems like Thornton has one of those actions where his pace is inconsistent as some days he bowls rockets while on others he looks pedestrian

Definitely a wicket taker though which is a handy trait for a bowler

Clarkson failed again, sad to see. Wickets for Thornton and some overs in sutherlands legs is nice, though. Weird knock from seirfet aswell, never took him as someone who could dig in and pace an innings like this.

Yeah came here to mention this exact point. Of Sutherland isn't fit to bowl 10 overs he shouldn't be playing in a specialist bowler position, and if he is, the fact that part time spinners were bowling at the death when there was more than enough overs between the pacers to cover it was stupid with or without hindsight.

Yeah they actually totally got away with Turner's bowling in the middle overs. Then they bowled him in the 39th over even when the fifth bowler allotment had been used up and he went for 19 in it. The fact that Short came on even after that does suggest to me that Sutherland was only allowed to bowl 6 overs though.

Getting ten overs out of Turner and Short is one thing. Having to get at least 14 out of them is another.

Yeah but they still needed to get 14 out of Turner/Short which they hadn't yet even if Rogers bowled 10. They have now but Short is actually bowling well and he's still on lol. Swings and roundabouts.

Jewell really needs to work on his game vs the short ball. Hopefully teams in the AUS domestic scene pickup on his weakness to it, cause he's never gonna have success in home Aussie conditions until he figures that out.

Fletcher's a quality gloveman and a solid bat aswell. Form with the bat has fallen off a bit recently but he's still solid.

Conversely the more I see of Matt Short the more impressed I get. Looking like he should be the one to replace Warner as white-ball opener over the next few years.

Short as a Warner replacement is reassuring. He's got the ceiling to be as good a bowler as maxwell and we've also got green, which gives us a ton of flexibility in terms of the make-up of the side.
