Whatever it takes!!!

Kid seems to have a great head on his shoulders. Wish him all success.

Hope to see him and Washy do great things for Indian cricket across all formats. :)

not to do a brook's side and engage in some ignorant gwailouposting, and i could probably look this up myself - but with some players like ashwin, name wise, i get that the way his name is meant to be written is "R Ashwin"; what is the naming convention that so makes it?

In south India, esp. Tamilnadu, we dont really have surnames. So the father's name usually becomes the initials.

R Ashwin - because his father's name is Ravichandran. But if you see the passport, we usually use the father's name as the surname, so most likely his name on the passport would actually read Ashwin Ravichandran.

so does that mean if ashwin had a kid and named him for example greg or what ever
his name would be A(shwin) Greg, and on the passport may read as Greg Ashwin?

Getting that feeling ( and thankfully now rather than some other time as things are getting busy in my life ), that I don't have as much interest in sharing my cricket thoughts and opinions as I had over the recent months. Obviously I might convince a guy of a minor point, or be convinced on something similar, but my overall idea of what cricket ( good or bad ), is largely formed.

Anyway, it's been another good run. Might see y'all in like another 5 years or something, lol.

Why didn't they do this in the first place?
It clearly makes the most sense. But tbf, you can understand why they would go with a blanket rule rather than leaving it to the umpires discretion. Considering the quality of umpiring lately

I'm not sure how the well umpire's discretion will work. It'd be nice if the distance tracking was timely and could do projections.
