Who would you have as keeper/bat in your ATG side?

For those wondering why I put ABD, he averaged 57 when he was keeper.

Are you playing Devil's advocate here Subs? Do you believe this is a real question?
Yeah. I go for Gilly but wondering to what degree posters here opt for Sanga as a viable alternative. Just threw in ABD give his batting record as keeper.

I think about this more seriously than most people do I think, but I still opt for Gilly in the end. Here's a post I made recently:

On Gilchrist, I actually totally do think he'd flop as a batsman at a higher level than regular Tests, but I obviously can't prove it. He said in his autobiography that throughout his entire career he had huge self-doubt and often wondered if everything he'd done had been to some extent just a giant fluke, and I remember @thierry henry saying he actually felt the same way about him when he was watching him. "Regular Test" bully IMO.

I reckon Sanga would end up keeping if we brought our fantasy ATG XIs to life and made them play out a few series tbh, but Sanga as keeper is so speculative and Gilchrist was so suited to batting 7 that I just feel like a massive edgelord if I suggest actually putting Sanga in as keeper in these teams.

Sanga was Dhoni level batsman when played as WK.
As I pointed out in another post - he was just hitting his peak when he gave up keeping in tests, his ODI record also vastly improved from that point despite keeping the gloves. (I don’t doubt his record would probably suffer a bit).

Interestingly in tests, Sanga was still almost exclusively batting at 3 when keeping - perhaps with an ATG team batting around him affording him the luxury to bat lower and having extra periods of rest between keeping and batting would also benefit him.

I think ABD seemed to seamlessly play well with the bat and gloves without seeming burdened. But he didn't get to keep to a spinner that much.

Convenient that you added the 06-08 tests when he had given up being a full time keeper - he only kept in 08 vs the West Indies due to Prasanna getting injured - which comprise his best performances in that period and the majority of non keeper tests he played in that period.

As I say, there is no doubt keeping interfered with his batting performance - he himself admits that, we will never know exactly how much since he improved in ODI’s after that point despite keeping the gloves. (Obviously it is a lesser factor there due to shorter innings both keeping and batting).
