Australian Domestic off-season 2023

But the Heat have surpassed them - I haven't even heard of Paul Walter.

Edit: And the Hurricanes have picked Corey Anderson!
Walter is a lanky left handed biffer who also bowls handy medium fast. Never going to play for England but a decent T20 cricketer.

Must be this year's big brained pluck an obscure player pick from the Heat, like Ross Whiteley was last year.
Why the heat decided to pick an out of form blast middle order bat after the whitley shitshow last season is beyond me, but it's very funny. Can't wait for walter to start bowling death by the end of the season.

Fair call, Jamie is definitely the considerably more interesting Overton. Not too sure how he's been travelling injury wise, but he sure can get then through when he's going well

If signing him is actually good strategy for the Strikers is another question entirely, but I would certainly rather watch him than his twin brother all day everyday
He was player of the tournament or something in the Hundred recently so he's been going well.

Bowls heat and boshes sixes, you won't hate him.

The Heat being a clown show is something I hope goes on forever.

Shame that IMO they haven't lived up to their fielding standards the past few seasons. I can remember six or seven years ago when it felt like practically every chance at a high catch was a guaranteed drop.

You just made me remember the covid game where hezlett top edged the ball the exact same way two or three balls straight and got dropped each time. BBL peaked that day. Hopefully paul walters has a funny bowling action or something.

That guy was terrible. But it wouldn't be Big Bash without half a dozen clearly-not-good-enough poms getting picked

Has marsh retired from all forms of domestic yet or just FC? If he can hold his hamstrings together for more than one game he'll be a massive asset..
I hope so though he missed games last season with injury. Is Finch still playing? Trouble is gades are relying on the same ageing bodies that didn't succeed last year. Q De K might just be a billboard and no more than that.

Well that is pleasing to hear, good to know he has firing on all cylinders with both bat and ball
His bowling hasn't exactly been firing recently. Only took 3 wickets @30 odd in the hundrred from memory, decent econ though. Been playing as a specialist bat alot recently for Surrey aswell.

Yeah I was aware injuries had been a bit of an issue for him hence the "not sure how he's travelling" comment. The fact that he at least has been bowling, which as you say hasn't always been the case for Surrey of recent times, combined with his undeniably strong recent form with the blade, is what does make me a little more optimistic

Manenti and him with short in the top and rashid gives them alot of power and some options for bowling rotation. Be interesting to see what the side looks like.

They need to use a bit of common sense and give Rashid more of an opportunity with the bat instead of saving him for the last 3 balls of a chase when the game is already over
