*Official* Q.de Kock to Retires from ODI after WC in India

G. S. Kohli

International Vice-Captain
De Kock to retire from ODIs after World Cup in India
De Kock's availability for South Africa had also become an issue after he signed up for the BBL recently

Quinton de Kock will now only play T20I
Quinton de Kock will retire from ODI cricket after the World Cup in India but is likely to continue playing T20Is for South Africa until the 2024 World Cup in USA & Westindies

Kenneth Viljoen

International Regular
Retired early from Tests .
Retiring early from ODI cricket .
Caused a scene at a T20 WC over a stance by refusing to play one of the games.

Quinton De Kock is giving my nation every indication that he does not want to play international cricket but CSA cannot take a hint..

Honestly this guy should be binned from the team , talent is not everything if you don't have heart then leave, nobody is bigger than the team ..

I actually respected QDK more when he did that and it was as much CSA's inept handling that caused it as QDK's behaviour.

What was the outcome ?
He ended up still taking the knee ..

If I say I am against alcohol and won't be attending a function if alcohol is there , I can't be seen with a glass of red in my hand the next day can I?

The only losers were the Protea side who lost a key member for one game because there was a failure to compromise by the player who ended up doing the same thing he protested against anyway ..
I'm pretty sure the chemistry was off the charts in the dressing room after that stunt QDK pulled ..

It's a bit different though? CSA wouldn't force someone to drink a glass of alcohol if they didn't want to or even be forced to appear in advertising for alcohol.

See Amla and Castle ads etc.

And do you think that helped the relationship between QDK and CSA?

If you want to support BLM that's fine, but some other political statements aren't allowed by the ICC. Moeen Ali got into trouble for wearing very discreet wristbands supporting Palestine, while India could wear military style caps after there was a skirmish between the Pakistan and Indian militaries.

Or hypothetically say in a game against Afghanistan the opposing team all turn their back or sit or something during the Afghani national anthem, to protest what is happening to women there. What do you think will happen? The ICC will lose its mind and expect heavy fines for the opposing team.

Allow players to make any political or religious statements they want or ban all of them.

Also, nobody should be forced to make any kind of political statement that they don't feel comfortable with.
