Stop the press! The auction is on and dollars galore. During the process, 144 out of the possible 150 players will go under the hammer with an unlucky 6 alone going to be left out.

First up on the auction table is one of the hot favorites to win the World Cup, the Australian squad. Please bid for 0-12 players from the below 18 quality players to get into your 12 member strong squad. Bid deadline is 24 hours from this post. If I do not receive any bids within the 24 hours, I will take it that you are not bidding for below players. Remember, you have to bid within the $1000 that you have.

Looking forward to receiving interesting bids from everyone through PM. And shhh, it's a secret auction. You can't let out your bid amounts to anyone until the deadline. Let me know here if you have any doubts.

Yes, it is. Some luck does play here and it's game theory in play but strategies on deciding and balancing risk-reward can help in getting the best players.

Some observations

1. All 18 players have been bid and bought which is a good sign
2. 3 franchises, Teuton, Ataraxia and H&H, have gone all in for the Australian squad and share the lion's spoils
3. 6 franchises yet to get off the mark having started conservatively. With a full purse, we can expect them to go hard in the next few rounds
4. Starc was the most valued bid with a total bid of $1003 while Head and Marsh had the most number of bidders at 10
5. Surprisingly, Green was the costliest buy over many other experienced players in the Aussie squad having been grabbed by H&H franchise for $275, an organization renowned for all-rounders
