Jamie overton getting MOTS is interesting, NGL. T Curran made 30 less runs than him and also took 6 more wickets, and jos made 150 more runs than second best, reckon both of those two where a better shout for it all.
I would have even thought about giving it to sams before him. 120 runs @ a sr of 170 and 12 wickets @18. Overton was pretty good either way, just didn't feel like MOTS.

Media going into overtime saying how good the Hundred was this year. No changes before 2028, that's enough time to get something right.
Missed Sunday's game(s) in more sedate surroundings of Wormsley. No ticket checking, home produced hospitality tables and gazebos. The cricketati of Berks, Oxon, Bucks have it sorted.
Agree, perhaps helped that we're now out of the woods of COVID. Clear that the franchises were more cohesive units both on the pitch and in terms of crowd support.
Also, we've had one of the worst summers in recent years yet it didn't significantly disrupt the tournament, despite a few NRs. I remember the risk of holding a tournament in a short window over the English summer being one of the many "legitimate concerns" levelled at the Hundred when it was created.

One thing that is becoming apparent (especially in the Women's game) is that there are passengers. 100 balls is simply not enough to seemingly get 11 players involved half the time. Take Maitlin Brown at the Southern Braves for example. She played in all 11 of their title winning matches. She scored 33 runs from 6 innings (with 5 not outs) whilst bowling just 7 overs in 4 of those matches for 1 wicket. Is this the best gig ever for an overseas pro?

This shitshow is now ruining the blast
Finals day will take place in September between two international games against Australia.
Meaning England internationals and Aussie overseas players won't be involved, in the event their counties make finals day.
Probably means Aussie internationals won't even sign for counties.

Haven't international matches impacted the Blast thread before? Conversely, there's something about fairness of county sides suddenly getting access to their England stars for the final of tournaments they've not otherwise featured in.
Anyhow, think that's a discussion for the county thread not this one.

There shouldn't be competing competitions within the English calendar is the point really.
ECB wasted all their cash reserves on the hundred. When sticking the blast on terrestrial and funding it better would have sufficed in getting new eyes on it. It's not like the games were any shorter despite 20 less balls.
Surely those new people invested in cricket won't now understand T20 as the rules are completely different.
My generation fell in love with cricket cos of 2005 Ashes because it was on channel 4 and readily available.
Didn't need to dumb the sport down for us. So treating kids now as tik tok short attention morons is a bit of a wild take from the ECB.
The competitions have always competed with each other, even prior to the Hundred. And competed with the international calendar too. Issue of cramming too much cricket into a relatively short window.
Issues with the Blast go beyond funding and are structural. To have adapted it to a more compact competition would've involved sacrifices the counties wouldn't have wanted to make. Hence their preference to create something new and unique.
I fell in love with cricket in the 90s thanks to watching tests and domestic one day competitions. I've managed to adapt to understand T20 and The Hundred. I'm sure the "tiktok short attention morons" of the current generation will be able to adjust the other way.
And that last sentence suggests it's you doing the patronising, not the ECB.
Interesting although think it might apply in T20 too.
Perhaps they should fully metricate and make it 10-a-side.

Not at all society is definitely more about fast entertainment. We have short attention spans now.
But i've seen bits of the hundred it's cringeworthy. It's like on the apprentice when they have to sell products for 10-12 year olds and end up marketing products that would appeal to 2-5 year olds.
There just assuming that kids can't grasp T20 and other cricket and had to simplify it to try and appeal. When the games have ended up taking longer than T20's anyway. Graphics still look utter garbage too.
