Smith in India this year. Wasn't just the fact he didn't make runs, but that he went against everything that made him successful there last time. Got out sweeping like a Muppet and bowled/LBW by the straight one playing for turn a few times when that was explicitly what he was trying to avoid in 2017.

Tendulkar in the SL series in 2008. His form had already kinda turned around after his 2004-2006 slump, so it was a surprise he played as badly as he did. Also got so salty about the DRS referrals that went against him this series, (all of them correct by the way) that it partly led to India childishly refusing to use DRS for a few years.
