Don’t place any store in bilateral ODI series’ though. England beat Aus in an ODI series here just before the 2007 WC.
Not only that, but that wasn't actually the last series before the 2007 WC. New Zealand then beat Australia 3-0 in an ODI series after that

Aus lost both their previous series before the World Cup, then went through the actual tournament unbeaten without even a close game

They don’t win much though. Got a world test title under the belt now though. This might be their time

While the Blackcaps have been disappointing at not being able to win the holy grail, on reflection making back to back finals and four consecutive
semi finals is actually a hell of a decent effort. Apart from 2015 when they played at home and were fancied, all other occasions they weren't
expected or tipped to do so. It's fair to say they are always written off more than any other team, yet constantly punch above their weight.
It's going to be really tough for them this year though and it feels like the semi's may be their limit. But you just never know stranger things have
happened before.

bit naff really, to have a competition which they'll promote, write up as GOAT and yet a sport where you field XI players you can only have four reserves given injury and maybe resting some you'd surely want at least 18 - spare keeper, couple each of batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders say

England will announce their squad this week but will have time until September 28 as per ICC regulations to prune their squad down to 15.

Hmm, they haven't won any world cup yet so could be their time, you never know.
We generally go in with low expectations into these sorts of tournaments, and I definitely think that'll be the case here - given it's on the subcontinent. We've just named an ODI side for England that is brimming with quality seam bowling (Boult, Southee, Ferguson, Milne, Jamieson, Henry) but probably only 3 of those can play in the subcontinent.

Kane *may* play, but he's generally taken time to get back to his best after injuries. The loss of Michael Bracewell is pretty huge (we never thought we'd say that) because we lose a tight 10 over guy and a lower order hitter of growing repute, and we can't replace him.

I still think we're a shot, we have a good XI we can throw out, but I think our death hitting will significantly count against us. And massive pressure on Santner and Sodhi to be at their best.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I keep seeing people tip England-Australia-Pakistan-India final four/semis so maybe....we're underdogs punching above our weight again
