If Mbappe would commit to a contract with a club other than Real the club would pay the momey. City, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Bayern, etc etc would line up.
Plus, City are Release Clause FC. Reportedly he has an 85m clause that activates next year and West Ham said pay that now or next year, so it makes sense. 85m is roughly 100m euro.
City generally do good business these days apart from the odd howler (Phillips, Bravo) so I trust the club well enough to know who they want and why they want them. Wouldn't have been on my bingo ticket though.

It's no different to what Lukaku did a few seasons ago with Inter and what they had planned to do this summer. Madrid are doing with Mbappe what Inter did and exploiting the situation. Similar to Chelsea then, PSG are being made to look fools
Backfired for Inter now but I doubt PSG can afford to let Mbappe do nothing all season.
