just saw that he got retained. would have been more useful captaining SA than sitting on the bench for his T20 teamI don't know, Bavuma might get an SA20 gig.

It's not going to save Cricket it's going to kill it ..Unfortunately, unless India, England, or Australia are touring hosting Test series normally results in a financial loss.
SA20 may well have saved SA cricket overall, but there are going to be causalities as a result.
What is your strategy to save the SA game, while ensuring it's financially viable? It's not going to save Cricket it's going to kill it ..
T20 is like sugar ..Too much of it and you destroy the healthy body that enabled T20 to be a thing in the first place ..We are going exactly the same route as West Indies
The same strategy that the entire country needs... decent implementation of good policy, but most importantly get rid of the incompetence, mismanagement and general corruption. What is your strategy to save the SA game, while ensuring it's financially viable?
But you need to bring the money in before you can do anything else. Without cash we not going to have Test cricket, anyway. And, apparently, even India tours aren't brining in as much money as they used to, partly because of the proliferation of T20 leagues. The same strategy that the entire country needs... decent implementation of good policy, but most importantly get rid of the incompetence, mismanagement and general corruption.
There is enough money to make everything viable, money problems is not the direct problem... its the outcome from all the rest of the problems. T20 bringing in monies right now is a panacea at best, it does not help anything if the above problems are not resolved. And for me the treatment of Test cricket is a clear indication that they not interested in solving long term issues that includes the incompetence, mismanagement and corruption problems...
●Well for a start, don't schedule series that clash with your own T20 league like a bunch of Muppets..What is your strategy to save the SA game, while ensuring it's financially viable?
ICC just gave SA cricket 500 million rand in funding how did SA cricket function when T20 did not exist , a lot of it is down to CSA having no clue how to run a cricket boardBut you need to bring the money in before you can do anything else. Without cash we not going to have Test cricket, anyway. And, apparently, even India tours aren't brining in as much money as they used to, partly because of the proliferation of T20 leagues.
Give me your five point plan to save SA cricket, without the SA20.
It's also easy for us to sit here and say: 'CSA must do good things and fewer bad things.' It's a tough job and I think, all things considered, they are on a better path than they were two or three years ago.
They get money both from ICC and support from government. Not enough but still. But also basically they pissed off their advertisers. Never mind the journalists and broadcasters. I`m not a cricketing management expert and don't pretend to be... and I`m not saying that cricket, not just in SA, but around the world is not facing challenges money wise and participation wise, and/or that T20 has effected the situation. But much of SA problems are self made due to the problems that I mentioned and importantly are not being dealt with! But you need to bring the money in before you can do anything else. Not sure CSA gets much from the government, and if they do I doubt it is enough to cover the rent of CSA's offices in Illovo. They get money both from ICC and support from government. The reality is that the CSA has mismanaged and made bad choices for SA cricket. Kenneth's answer are a good beginning. However the current management have clearly decided that monies through T20 at the detriment to everything else is their plan. My opinion is that this is going to ultimately result in the long term destruction of all cricket in SA. If they showed any indication of dealing with the rest of it I would possibly be more optimistic.
The only way we are gonna get more money is by being more competitive across all formats , because if we are more competitive the big sides will tour here more giving SA even bigger revenue, you have to maintain your quality to get more money ..So it's always a good investment to ensure Tests are in good healthBut you need to bring the money in before you can do anything else. Good then he'll be on the plane to NZDavid Bedingham wants 'shot at playing Test cricket' in NZ
Western Province and Durham batsman David Bedingham has reiterated ambition to play international cricket for the Proteas.www.clubcricket.co.za
Mulder is not the only all round option , there's Corbin Bosch , Beyers Swanepoel has got some talent , Ruan De Swardt , Delano Potgieter ..Bedingham is a very necessary addition to the weakened batting line up of SA test team.
Wiaan Mulder also needs to improve his bowling as he is the only all rounder option SA have
He's absolutely top class. Your national team may as well giveup if he doesn't get selected.David Bedingham wants 'shot at playing Test cricket' in NZ

Also Mulder has to improve his batting more than the bowling, yet to hit even a 50 for SA and he's no longer extremely young either , he's 25 we need to see some results across the formats at international level like he does in County cricket.
