I think the games have been pretty good so far.

i get all the objections. I’m not even sure the funky things make it easier to follow. But it’s entertaining

Combined Women's and Men's table and new teams?
Interesting. Not sure about moving the window to fit around other tournaments, cause they'll move and then the Hundred will be forever chasing their tail. I think merging the men's and women's might actually further erase the identity of the women's game.

Agree the names could be better and that playing some matches outside the main grounds would also be good. Could they even play it in cities that don't currently host professional cricket? Might need some investment which I guess is where the franchise sell off would come in. Apparently Jay-Z is sniffing around Tottenham, perhaps the ECB could distract him??

It is cricket so yeah there are going to be some fun games.

Not watched any yet but just looking at the teams they could easily just be blast matches.

It's cricket mate of course it will be fun.

The point is why not plow money into the blast. The ECB emptied their bank accounts on a competition that gets the same players as the blast.

They badged it as a rival to the IPL or BBL. Yet a competition last month in Texas had bigger stars and doesn't even count towards T20 stats while the Hundred does.

Think that last point is the most salient as the ICC and ECB are more interested in lining their pockets than actually progressing cricket.

If we forget about the money how is it progressing cricket in England. The IPL and BBL definitely have helped their national sides.

I look at the club that's supposed to represent my region in the Northern superchargers. It picked 38 year old Wiese and 34 year old Parnell journeymen former South African former internationals and 27 year old Australian state cricketer Short instead of 24 year old English talents Robinson and Potts. Robinson especially has been in absolutely scintillating form and he's not playing cricket in the height of summer.

Aside from all that, how is it progressing cricket in England.

I agree with all of that mate completely. I think they’ve gone about it all wrong. But it does seem to be getting families involved and hell my wife is coming to a game after 15 years of threatening to.

My mam seems to watch it. But she's right into the blast too. Was at finals day taking photos of all the Somerset and Surrey players. She wasn't much of a ricket fan but got into T20 4/5 years ago.

I'm 30 and 2005 Ashes got my entire generation into cricket.

I get bairns now are into tik tok, FIFA, fortnight and drill music now more so than the nuance of test cricket.

But fail to get why 20 less balls makes this more viable than the blast.

I hope Tom Harrison ruins rugby to make up for his sins in charge of the ECB.

Yeah if they wanted to go down the non/county teams route they could have still kept it T20.

And yeah tbf my wife likes limited overs or indeed a tense finish to a Test anyway. She was actually coming to India in 2021 with me at OT. Then she broke her toe a week before so my brother subbed in and called me as we were about to go to tell me the game was cancelled. Doh

If you're going to have a short franchise tournament, then effectively merge the counties for it - with an equal division of players per county (five?) and a couple of overseas players. The teams are basically run as the strongholds of a single county or two anyway - Trent are Notts, Ovals are Surrey - the auction is a farce. I agree that many of the overseas players are really no better than English players not involved.
