Was chatting to a fella at the Golf Club on Sunday, he said "I don't really like cricket but I enjoy The 'Hundreds'"!! Should've told him where he can stick his 'Hundreds'!!
Yeah there's nothing quite like sticking the casuals on whom the entire sport depends in their place.

Only seen a bit but Chris Jordan was on fire at the end of the Rockets innings

A great win for Lewis Gregory, obviously if had gone the other way it would have been a great victory for Craig Overton.

amusingly that where some of my fave Somerset players are, but obviously I can't support tem, so I just vaguely support Somerset players.
Not as strongly as you but I can’t support Manchester Originals so my heart belongs to Ben Stokes and therefore the Superchargers

I suppose I should support the Southern Braves - but watching last night (I mean it's cricket at the end of the day so may as well watch it) I just did not care who won. The Braves have no chance with that batting line up anyway.

I mean that’s the thing with franchise cricket isn’t it.

I guess the IPL ones have been around for a while now so people who’ve grown up with them will feel attached. But it doesn’t really mean anything does it

it’s different in India we have more attachments to cities and many are more of player worshipers too

From what I understand, there was little culture in watching domestic teams in large numbers before 2008 and India didn't really have any t20 competition of note apart from the short lived ICL. Therefore, the IPL essentially created something from scratch that big city audiences could relate to. In the UK, there were already well supported domestic teams for limited overs cricket so there never was a need for a city based franchise.

+ I've talked about it at length before, but taking Lancashire as the example, someone from Liverpool will support Lancs but they sure as hell aren't supporting 'Manchester Originals'.

What's the minimum number of balls per side allowed in a rain affected match to count.
Haven't checked the rules, can't be bothered, just interested to know.

yes this is spot on and its one of the reasons why IPL became big for cricket fans in India
