Warners problem is since 2019 ashes his lost his strike rate early in the innings to build
Up his confidence like he use to. This has changed in all formats his played now, he use to like 30 off 20 balls back in the days see off the new ball and off to a flyer with much more confidence. Now a days he has to work so hard at the start then he eventually nicks out to one. Playing at like under 40 strike rate has never been his sort of game

so why did he change his approach? Was it under instruction or possibly more a confidence thing?

Most likely mentally his just not confident anymore at the start every bowler bowls whatever they want at him now. He tries too hard to see off the bowlers now rather than attack them out of the attack.

Wardy needs a good start to the next Shield season to put some acid on the selectors to pick him over Warner

Anderson has never been especially effective against Aus outside of a few isolated spells anyway. He hasn't looked terrible, just lacked penetration on mostly unhelpful surfaces against batsmen who know his tricks inside out and are happy to sit on him.
He hasn’t been that threatening at all. Aus main challenge the last few tests have been to get over Wood and Woakes first spells which they haven’t been able to. They’ve played Jimmy the exact way they have wanted. Just not to give him wickets they couldn’t care much about the scoring rate off him
