Effectiveness wise, it's a tough one but watching KP bat was damn entertaining and pleasurable. Also, being a superior LOI bat helps his case. KP it is for me.

VVS. A solid player in the middle order and has always helped India in crucial times. His innings of 281 against Aus is one of the best Innings of all time. For me its has to be VVS.

I would say about 48. His record against major non-Australian teams leave much to be desired. He was never 50 averaging batsman.
I was talking about his career after he stopped opening. By the numbers, he was literally a 50 average batsman for a span of time as long as most ATG batsmen careers (and much longer than KP's mere 8 year career) . I'm not saying he would've averaged 50 if he'd never opened, that's a different question.

KP was a magic player. I favour him over VVS. He had the ability to destroy attacks ala Viv. VVS was excellent but lacked that 5th gear.

These x vs y comparisons always fall foul to the fact that certain people vote on nationality and not necessarily merit.
