Well you can't blame him for taking the money, but yes I am surprised he has chased the money, especially with the euros coming up and still playing a lot for Liverpool.

Didn't see him as one that would have his head turned by the money
its fair for the groups he was virtue signalling to blame him though

Chelsea appear to have unlimited funds and will spend anything to get back to the top four

no idea how financial fair play sees them but whatever it is , nobody else is spending like them in the last year
They've done really well on player sales. They've sold Havertz, Mount, Koulibaly, Kovasic, Pulisic, Mendy, RLC, and Ampadu. They've also got some others off their books like Kante and Azpi. They'll also probably sell Auba, Gallagher, Lukaku, CHO, and a few others. On net spend alone, they can afford Caicedo so FFP doesn't come into it.

It is. What they did last season was insane. They exploited a loophole in the FFP system to sign a whole bunch of players on longer contracts so that the cost to them is spaced out. It was clever but really something that FFP should ideally not have allowed.

Everton finally got a deal for Danjuma across the line after messing it up in Jan. Definitely not a world-beater, but a much better option than we have in the squad already. Supposedly meeting Gnonto's agent today too to sort that deal out, so some positive moves being made. We desperately need to bulk out the squad after letting so many guys go.

I’m a bit miffed that Sunderland didn’t make an effort to sign Ellis Simms

he may not be premier league level but he certainly did a pretty good job in his spell for Sunderland

no doubt he will score when we play Coventry

Thing is as well, a number of those signings will be farmed out across the and Europe

it’s not just Chelsea but a lot of these clubs buying up other teams across the world to keep players involved and the chance of other teams down

I hate the loan system though Sunderland have made good use of it but it’s all short term and when anyone does well, they are taken away and Sunderland have to start all over again

it’s only going to get worse with the Saudi money flying around

I agree it's not ideal. Loans rarely seem to work out as well and Diallo's successful loan is more an exception than a norm. Having said that, I'm not sure how this can be improved. Young players need game time to develop and they're unlikely to always get it at their parent clubs, while the parent clubs don't want to lose the player either.

I think baseball have something like farm leagues where those teams never get promoted to the major league. Also most major teams have a team in the farm league as well. So the young players get their chance to compete regularly and develop and when they are ready, they are moved up into the main team. A bit like the reserves league we have in football, but probably not as competitive.

Spain allows for a club’s reserve team to play in their football system as long as they are always 1 division below the main club, Germany does it with a 2 division rule. when it was suggested in England people shot it down because they didn’t want to phase out clubs with a century of history for these B teams

loans are already being limited by the new fifa rules that will put a limit on how many players you can loan out or take on loan with the only exceptions being u21 or club grown players. its why teams like Man City are nowadays doing these deals where they negotiate a sell on clause for the players or a buyback clause so that they can either buy the player back at a reduced price or profit from the next sale. no matter what you do teams will eventually find ways to circumvent the rules

Is Ampadu good enough to stop the Leeds defence being a charity shop? Also I hear rumours that we thrashed Barnsley 9-1 in a closed door friendly. It's no 27-0 but hey...
