South Africa team selection

I'm not sure how much that matters as it's difficult to understand how his inclusion matters unless he is above Brevis for a similar spot etc.It is precieved as dismissive of a young talent.
It matters because you're reading it as being dismissive of Brevis but others aren't. Without the full context we can't be sure which of those interpretations is right.

I have been enjoying the American t20 league as a South African . Rabada , Coetzee and Klaasen flying the flag with some great performances so far. . However completely agree very little SA competitive cricket , but it is winter .

Tried to find a way to watch the u19 team however wasn't able to .

Oh dear...

That means South Africa could be forced to field a makeshift Test side with a significant proportion of their first-choice players required for the SA20. Although South Africa's centrally-contracted players are bound to both the national team and the SA20, CSA has guaranteed the SA20 first rights to the players over the January window and as such, the players will be obliged to play for their franchises rather than the national team. An SA20 mini-auction will take place in September which could see more players snapped up for the league and will also give CSA a clearer idea of who can make the trip to New Zealand.
CSA truly have become a joke of a board... I might end up having to start supporting the English* soon...

(*nah that is never gonna happen!)

Which of the Test team didn't get an SA20 gig last time out? KP?
Elgar didn't get one either.

Of the players who went on the A tour to Sri Lanka, it looks like none of the following played in the SA20:

Tony de Zorzi
Keegan Petersen
Zubayr Hamza
Sinethemba Qeshile
Beyers Swanepoel
Kwena Maphaka
Lutho Sipamla
Tshepo Moreki

I think there's a good chance that Swanepoel will get picked up by an SA20 team, Moreki isn't good enough to play tests, and it would be a big call to pick Maphaka at this stage. But taking them out and including Elgar gives you half a team that doesn't look too bad. The problem would be finding the other half.

For me this emphasizes a shift in mentality of multi format players . I believe there is a case for a test specialization , if you look at the last SA20 Bavuma struggled to get into the sides however he is more a test player . There are domestic players that has a similar inclination some mentioned and Reynard van Tonder is another that springs to mind . It is however an issue as you do have multi format players however they will in my mind take up 4 or 5 of the spots if development is for a test team .

A lot of nations already implemented a test specialization , we do have the players to do so , the issue is do we have the finances and with our very very very low schedule on international tests is it worth it ?

This could also be an opportunity to pick David Bedingham

I really want us (NZ) to beat South Africa in a test series, but I want it to be against a proper team. I know itineraries are busy, but can't they reschedule the SA T20?

Good call. I think it would be possible to put together a decent batting line up from players not involved in the SA20. Bowling is more of a problem as our best bowlers are all multi-format players who are in high demand.

Maybe a recall for Kyle Abbott?

Oh I feel for the players , they have been put in a hard place with this scheduling , very hard to turn down life changing money when your own board couldn't schedule a series properly.

No. Can't schedule it earlier due to the Indian home series.

ICC need to create international windows. Till they do we will have these clashes.

Well I mean players have a choice aswell ..
If you really you want to play Test cricket you'll make the decision to skip 1 t20 tournament..
It's a two test series for which nobody is going to be given any guarantees that they'll get a starting spot. It's going to be really hard to turn down the amount of money they're going to earn from the SA20 just to take a chance at a test match.
