That was a smooth ton. I don't think he looked troubled by any 1 of those 129 balls. Picks up length so early. Great strike rate without any slogs at all. A joy to watch.

Ah **** Salman throws it away.

This is moving test lower order mostly among runs at Galle
Day one SL 54/4 yet reached 312

First false shot of the morning for Shakeel. Review taken out of desperation more than anything else imo.

Only Australia and India seem like 'strong' sides ATM. England will bulldoze bad sides but not good ones or in tough conditions. The rest are medicore [Pak, SRL, NZ, RSA] or outright poor [WI, Zim, Bang]. I don't consider Ireland or Afghanistan worthy of discussion yet. TBH even Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have failed to make the grade.
If Australia were so strong why couldn't they beat a 'Medicore' Sri Lanka side in Sri Lanka , in one of the matches they even lost by an innings..don't be arrogant man .

Total road still. All the wickets today were soft AF. Just need one of these two to go big with some tonking from the tail. SL could benefit greatly from play stopping when the current partnership was looking like a million bucks tho.
people were labelling the Ashes Test pitches similarly, "a road" for the 1st Test yet no sided topped 386 (1324 runs, 36 wickets), "green" for the 2nd Test and yet more runs were scored albeit for all 40 wickets

point is yes the batsmen playing poor shots will play a part, as will eg no balls and dropped catches, but generally speaking totals tend to reflect the pitches better than consensus and if this were a "road" would both sides have been 73/4 or worse (SRL 55/4) ... ? no, probably not.

that said 400 is still possible, maybe not "far fetched" even if contextually said when Pakistan were a fair bit off it with not that many wickets in hand, but "a road" would be seeing 200/3, 300/4 at worst not 73/4 and mid to late 200s for 6

Over the course of an innings things like luck and bad shots can play a huge role. Yesterday every Pakistani batsman bar Imam-ul-Haq got off to a quick start but threw it away senselessly. I watched the whole morning session just now and really nothing happened off the pitch. The #8 looks very comfortable out there. 400 is there for the taking as you say. SL were 4 down for not much because Shaheen is gun with the new ball. He even got Labu and Warner out cheaply and consistently last summer on the flattest decks known to man.

Anyone want to explain how Nauman Ali is now Noman Ali?
It was around 1700 BC, when his friend gary the final tyrannosaurus rex went extinct, Nauman (former name) realised the significance of this world and hereafter. He questioned life, love and power. Centuries later he still questioned these thoughts as generations kept wiping away in front of his eyes. “Oh goodbye Hammond you fraud” said Nauman as he wiped a tear and kept moving on into the next gen. But this generation excited him, he saw two great spinners tear oppositions down, but alas their time ended too. Nauman waited and waited for the next spinning talent to come through but seeing Ashwin and Jadeja averaging 39.5 and 37 away vs Top 6, he knew the world needed a proper hero. And thus at such an old age Nauman decided the time has come to debut and restore the natural law and order in cricket. Unfortunately during his debut year, cricket analysts on the internet had been blinded by Ashwin and Jadeja’s overall stats so much that they could not see the imbalance of more home games stuffed into their average. Nauman was sad that his brilliance was being pushed to the side by the world with all the cameras panning towards those two. “Who’s the new guy in the SL series, he’s unbelievably good!”, thats what Nauman believed would happen if he changed his name, he could perhaps refresh his image in the media once he takes his 10fer in the next innings of the game, and give the cricketing world the hero it deserves.

I admire the effort

Whatever it takes!!!
I dont think the Pak side, per se, is that bad at all. Yet somehow they seem to contrive to be less than sum of their parts in tests.

I am enjoying this Kamrul Islam Rabbi-like effort from Naseem.

In other words: Pakistan gonna Pakistan

As an aside, with PakPassion shut down 'temporarily' and begging for money, surprised we haven't had an influx of Pakistani posters.
