Is Ashwin an ATG spinner / player?

Subshakerz is absolutely correct. Even in this proposed second half youve just made, filtering Ashwin’s stats in Australia from 2015, shows him sitting at an average of 32.5
This is just ordinary everyday spin bowling. I dont see anything of impact or some game changing effect
I didn't say second half, you said that . I said last two tours. 4 matches, 18 wickets, 27 avg. Two test series wins.

I am old school. Back in the day, what we expected from a SC spinner in SENA was to wait for day 4,5 on a sufficiently worn out pitch and bowl out a team and lead his team to victory. Saqlain, Mushie, Harbi, Herath, Murali and Kumble all did that. It's what I expected Ashwin would do eventually but not yet.

Largely because the pitches were made in a way to force that sort of bowling.

The biggest reason India won the series in Australia 2018 or 2020 wasn't Ashwin by any means.

2018 - Cheteshwar Pujara grinded the Aussies pacers by batting for hours and hours while with bowl, Bumrah was the standout performer of the series.

2020- It was Rishabh Pant's two knocks in Sydney and Gabba that absolutely forced the Aussies to go defensive and turned the series upside down. Ashwin got the better of Smith in first two tests( one of them India lost anyways) but he was clueless with bowl in third test - Sydney, where Jadeja picked 4 wickets and brought India back in the game( Aussies were 200-2 and then collapsed to 330 odd due to Jads). Bumrah and Siraj were equally standout as Ashwin.

I couldnt be ****ed turning my memory on, but did Kumble have anyone stealing his wickets in sena like Ashwin dealing with Jadeja?
There is a massive difference in the batting lineup of Australia 2003-04 and Australia 2018. One was the best ever while the other was worst ever.

There is also quite a bit of difference in batting lineup of Australia 2003-04 and Australia 2020-21. Barring Smith and Marnus, there was lack of quality in that team too.

2003/04 was on literal batting paradises. Anyone could've scored runs there, the bowler with the best average (Kumble) averaged 29 ffs. Everyone else was over 30, including Gillespie and MacGill. Tell me how bowlers of any quality are supposed to get wickets in such circumstances?
