English Domestic Season 2023

A number of interesting finishes tomorrow. I was listening to Middlesex v Northants where the pitch seems to have flattened out though both sides really have to push for a win given their positions in the table.

Some good cricket at New Road where our highest scoring partnership was for the 10th wicket, only for us to follow on and send 10 and 11 back out as night watchmen.
That's amazing on both counts.

Can't have been many games two nightwatchmen sent out. Plus rare for the 10th wicket to be the best partnership too.

This is how Borthwick ended up as a top order bat. Remember him getting some runs down the order for Durham in a game so they told him to keep the pads on and send him back out, I'm pretty sure.

At Worcester to watch day 4 of Worcestershire v Yorkshire on my birthday. Comedy run out in 3rd over and another wicket mean Yorkshire have got rid of both nightwatchman openers. Just dropped Roderick at slip off Fisher. 44-2 but cloudy and spitting with rain.

Coad making it talk. Shame he is medium pace.

next match is Derbyshire away , starting Wednesday 19 July
Sussex have pretty much batted themselves into at least a draw. So the gap will be reduced hopefully to only 49.

Which considering that means Sussex would need two full bonus point wins to even get anywhere near us.

Means we've surely got the title bagged if they don't win.

Sussex have missed a trick here.

Looks like they'll bat till lunch for the declaration and hope to bowl Derbyshire out in two sessions.

I feel they should have declared much earlier to give Derbyshire something to chase. They would probably lose more wickets that way.

However a draw will suit Durham nicely.

Currently raining in the Leicestershire game so it's going to be a case of how many batting points they pick up.

Blackpool and perhaps Taunton looking interesting however the others look set for draws.
Lancs just lost another. 3 wickets left 70 from 11 needed. Swear they only needed 5 an over 10 mins ago, unsure how rate gone up that much.

With how far behind Middlsex and Northants are you'd have thought they'd risk defeat going for the win.

Especially with a guy in on 96
