Has Bazball made Test cricket interesting again?

In England it has , and that’s all it was initiated for

theres a huge problem with the youth in the uk being encouraged to play the game

they like T20 and the 100 but tests bore them

we will see in the next few seasons the problem the England team will have in replacing Anderson, Broad , stokes, root, bairstow , moeen

I just wish some overseas fans could accept this as Bazball is not aimed at them or to make their teams play differently

mite an attempt to inspire the uk youth
haha not this **** again

It’s not man. It’s the reality but people simply won’t accept it

there is very few test quality playing in the championship and it’s proved a we have. Crawley averaging under 30 but guaranteed to start forever

it’s the same with spinners, fast bowlers and top notch batsmen

in the uk the youth simply does not care one iota about test cricket

it’s not played outside fee paying private schools

bazball is an attempt to attract kids from huge areas of the uk where cricket is ignored completely

you take offence and think it’s a slight on your country as do others but it’s simply not

We shall see in ten years when England will struggle as the West Indies are at test level

white ball is a completely different matter

you ridicule me so be it, but it will prove to be right and then you will realise

I’m right about this

stop with your preconception and do some research and you will find what I say is reality

One can only hope
:laugh::laugh: It’s happening

still england will just be world champions in all white ball cricket

tests will just disappear eventually in time

I’m battered over this and ridiculed but I have seen it in person over the last ten years

look at the England squad now and it’s full of players at the back end of their careers

There is barely anything coming through to replace them

Now I’ve had enough of repeating myself so that’s that

it’s happening , would I really bang on forever to keep being ridiculed ?

That makes no sense at all

the championship in England is watched by the proverbial one man and a dog

there’s is virtually no interest whatsoever in the for day game red ball in England

there are virtually zero clubs outside if private fee paying schools to attract youngsters to the game

the next ashes series in England is not going north of Birmingham

no old Trafford , no headingley and definitely no Chester le street

so that’s half of England not worthy of hosting a game.

Does that not show how little the game is being promoted when half the country is ignored?

so over and out

Because of obscene amounts of luck
Luck is part of anyone winning a trophy including Australia etc over the years

Carlos brathwaite has done very little after the four sixes That was a huge amount of luck

England are deserved world champions in both formats

i picked a random county match livestream on youtube and it says 18k views. seems more than one proverbial man and his dog

anointing two New Zealanders as cultural revolutionaries and messiahs finding larger than life meaning in a style of cricket that best suits their team is some stretching

the current leading run scorer in county division one is an under 19 player and both of Crawley's club openers are better than him, you guys pick him because of non cricket reasons and not because he is the best option you have like other small countries

if test cricket is dead in england then it is an ancient fossil in other parts of the world

say what you want about Bazball in England but if Pakistan keep playing test matches in empty stadiums on dead pitches then no country would want to tour Pakistan because of the financial losses. Crowds are really important in televised sports and if there isn't any then theres no point televising it.

i don't think there is as big a problem in England as in other countries in this case. WI, maybe Sri Lanka being other examples

Evening all, just enjoying that blissful holiday pint while the wife and kids get ready.

Forget about Test Cricket on the whole. Important to remember how turgid England had become, which I don’t blame on Root but he was hamstrung by many things. In particular poor batting, very poor batting.

Sports are complex but the key to any team sport is maximising strengths and minimising weaknesses. We don’t really have any accumulators per se, so attacking is so much more productive. And actually has given the bowlers something to work with more often than not.

I think we’ve lost four games under Stokes. Only one absolute whooping, and then I guess Lord’s was only close in the final reading. So even if we don’t win The Ashes*, it’s the right approach for us, right now. And that’s all it needs to be.

*don’t worry, we will

Have always found test cricket interesting.

The Bazball approach has made it more so.

If most test matches were as close and exciting as the last 3, who would want to watch a short form of the game.
