Silver Line

U19 Debutant
Assessing on this edition of qualifiers the Dutch, as a bonus have also found bench strength by having half their squad missing.

with this edition of qualifiers considered and analysed, the best XI the Dutch can construct for the world cup in India would be:
  1. Max O’Dowd
  2. Vikramjit Singh
  3. Wesley Baressi
  4. Colin Ackermann
  5. Bas de Leede
  6. Scott Edwards (c) (wk)
  7. Saqib Zulfiqar
  8. Logan Van Beek
  9. Roelof Van der Merwe
  10. Paul Van Meekeren
  11. Fred Klaasen

subs
  1. Teja Nidamunuru
  2. Tom Cooper
  3. Aryan Dutt
  4. Timm Van der Gugten
  5. Clayton Lloyd

If they can get back Tom Cooper ( ODI avg 45) ,
Colin Ackermann ( ODI average 35) , Paul Van Meekeren (90 mph bowler) and a couple of others they will be a handful for any team at the WC ..
I don't know if Tim Pringle would be interested as he's an outside chance of playing for NZ under a new coach, but he'd be a good one for the Dutch to grab.

Pretty sure he's already played for them, hasn't he? Was in their T20 WC squad last year?

Playing for an associate doesn't affect his eligibility for NZ either, no it's effectively a free hit for him.

So a Team of The Tournament for the entire WC Qualifiers seems in order ..

I'd go :

1.Dimuth Karunaratne (SL)
2.Pathum Nissanka (SL)
3.Brandon McMullen (SCO)
4.Sean Williams (ZIM)
5.Sikandar Raza (ZIM)
6.Bas De Leede (NED)
7.Scott Edwards (NED) (WK)
8.Wanindu Hasaranga (SL)
9.Chris Greaves (SCO)
10.Mahesh Theekshana (SL)
11.Chris Sole (SCO)

Why wasn't Pringle there? And what about the other guys that were missing - what did they have on that was more important???

Shane Snater another option for them. Hasn't played much for the Netherlands, but definitely a chance if he's interested.

Congrats to the Netherlands, you can't say they didn't deserve it, couple of stunning team and individual performances this tournament.

Very rough on Zimbabwe to miss out on the same 6 points, and doubly so for Scotland who also fell at the last hurdle in last world cup's qualifiers. I know Ireland have fallen away a little, but it does feel like a group of the non-top-8 teams are improving, and if the ICC weren't perenially disinterested then cricket could grow as a sport.

I would've been stoked for any of Zimbabwe, Scotland or Netherlands to make it. The fact that they all finished on 6 points, all finished ahead of two Test nations, but only one could qualify is a disgrace and the ICC should be ashamed.

Certainly of the three the Dutch will benefit most at the WC from county cricketers becoming available, so fair play.
