Giving the under-rated King Curtly a vote as I always felt he was as good as any one else. The only bowler in the 400 wicket club to average sub 21.

gotta applaud op for finding creative ways to bypass the dead subforum that temporarily halted his activities

and i petition the mods to move these to the comparisons subforum too, having more than 2 options suddenly doesn’t make these threads worthy of the main forum

An average of 18 then 13 a year later against a world class English line-up featuring the likes of Sutcliffe, Walters, Hammond, Leyland, Hendren and Jardine is pretty impressive.

Not sure what went wrong in 1939, injury perhaps?

Really nice bowling action, probably an under-rated fast bowler.

Joel Garner at No.7 and above Imran, Donald and Holding is an interesting take.

OK, now the tough bit, my top-10. Cue the music and sharpen the knives!

The one single English player on that list is hundreds of wickets behind Anderson and Broad

the past is not always the best
