Ben Stokes

International Debutant
Stats and averages aren’t everything and Stokes the best example of it. The 1st test he barely bowls and gets that Khawaja wicket that should have won them the game. Then the 2nd test he plays a crazy innings that got them close to another impossible win. When those wickets and runs come a lot of them have been in important times and matches

I was on about after lunch, when lead got under 100.

Aussies were bowling everything outside off and Ben couldn't do anything anymore yet weren't ticking the scoreboard over. Just wasting balls and building pressure for him to play a shot that he'd mis-time and it worked.
Isn't that an example of good strategy on Cummins' behalf? Saw the very effective gameplan that Stokes was bringing, devised something to counter it, executed it successfully. Don't think there's a lot more to it than that.

Stokes chokes might actually be true... Without umpire intervention, he choked at Headingley. He chocked here at Lord's, and without umpire intervention at the wc, he chocked at the end and fell short of what was needed.

If anything it shows how flimsy the concepts of choke and clutch are. Luck is a big big factor in cricket only evened out over big numbers. Hence averages are everything, Stokes is mediocre. K, bye.

It can be both things at once bad batting as well as good captaincy?

That two they turned down was mental, soon as it left the bat I shouted run two. Even Broady knew it was two.

Still think they should have been taking more singles. Far too early with 4 wickets to play with and over 100 runs to get.

He didn't win any games this ashes did he? Guy should've been out caught, what was smith doing. Stokes score was flattering.
