but in all seriousness, even though i despise Lords and its higher than thou nature, the whole spirit of cricket and gentlemanly conduct thing I believe is vitally important for our sport. It's what makes it different from say, football. IDK, but i would hate to see a world full of ravichandran ashwins

Yeah and how would the Aussies cope with their bowling attack decimated of Cummins and Starc which is the equivalent of Wood & Archer for us. That's not forgetting the fact we have other options unable to stay fit either
Quite well.

Boland, Nesser and Morris would all currently be playing test cricket for England if they could.

They just won a test after losing on day 2 the guy who bowls the most overs for them in every match. They did it after leaving out a bloke who has a test average of about 18 for Starc.

As for comparing Mark Wood to Pat Cummins, I mean, come on.

I really strongly disagree with this......why do people want to put cricket on a higher moral or ethical plane to other sports? It's no more a gentleman's sport than any other imo and I've got no idea why people would want it to be?

Edit: and everything about Lords shows me why this way of thinking is wrong and holding our game back.

There's also a huge difference between what happened out there on Sunday, which everyone agrees was an entirely legitimate dismissal within the rules of the game, and setting off fireworks outside the opposition team's hotel at 4am, which is what happens in football.

They only made noise because they were caught blatantly cheating. Whenever there’s the faintest of plausible deniability they’ll back them. Case in point: how you react to anyone claiming the bowlers knew about sandpapergate.
Cummins might be an exception tbh. There's a section of Australian media which haaaates him and would happily throw him under the bus at first opportunity. Otherwise this is obviously true.
