International Coach
Yes, Paul Strang was very good. I will probably have Murray Goodwin ahead of Craig Ervine and bat him at 3 for more solidity.

Johnson, G.Flower, Goodwin, Taylor, A.Flower, Sean Williams, Raza, Streak, Brandes/Blignaut, P.Strang, Muzarabani will be my team.

That team bats to 10 and has loads of all-rounders.
Goodwin was good in tests. Not much in ODIs.

ATG ODI side for Zimbabwe

N. Johnson
G. Flower
A. Flower (wk)
A. Campbell (c)
B. Taylor
S. Williams
S. Raza
H. Streak
A. Blignaut
R. Price
B. Strang

The likes of Blignaut and Streak could be promoted to boost the run rate if required.
Thats some serious quality side

Current players getting overrated in this thread massively
I was waiting for this comment as i agree , very surprised also for the love of Raza . Williams and Ervine has a similar body of work . However comparing that to Andy Flower who maintained a above 50 average in both formats for most of his career its strange . If you compare they more comparable to players like Houghton and Goodwin and even then they look better .

I think people can have trouble judging objective quality. Flowers, Goodwin, Streak, Johnson etc played virtually all their cricket against proper international teams, whereas modern Zim players almost never do. It's all other "minnows" and when they do play Test nations it's usually against 2nd string sides. Hence people look at Raza, Williams et al putting together impressive performances against these weaker opposition and it compares favourably to how Goodwin and co did against actual ATG 90s/early-00s sides.

For Raza in particular though he has had some really good recent form and IIRC some big knocks against India which would have left an impression. I don't begrudge anyone rating him highly

Rare mostly accurate post from TJB. I dread to see how he'll make up for it.
