Green aside, difficult to imagine how that could have gone much better for Aus. 340 runs in these conditions is dreamland given our history, 5 down and coming back tomorrow is unheard of

STUMPS

339 for 5.

clearly Australia’s day and England will have to bowl well early tomorrow to keep this total in range

Smith will be key to get Australia in a position of total dominance

Australia's day by faaaaar. England can still restrict the damage tomorrow if they get em out for under 400 but they'll be fighting an uphill battle in any case. A cloudy session is never far away and you'd expect Cummins and Haze to be a lot more clinical.

Will they have fielders around the boundary this time or will they try and attack?

should be attack but then that plays into Englands attacking intent

should be fascinating

England may regret batting second here. Root was getting a fair amount of turn in that last session. Lyon in the 4th dig on day 4/5 could be a nightmare.

Aus way ahead this pitch way better to bowl than the 1st test. Anything over 400 is tough, England I thought they didn’t bowl as bad as the commentators were saying. There were so many edges that flew past. Head was hunting that century today, green didn’t have to go that Recklessly and could have survived till stumps. If England can’t do much with the new ball could still be over 450 score

Obviously when England bat they maybe one down already depending on pope

that will mean , I assume Root will be in third and facing the new ball , when starc gets rid of Crawley

Not really though. Yes in time but not in actual action as they were deprived 7 overs
Does the crowd/audience really get anything out of seeing a part-timer throw 5 overs down from one end to up the over rate?

Having said that, I'd normally say quality > quantity but we all saw the English bowling today.
