Voted for Taylor but if Zim qualify for the World Cup I’d vote for Raza.

Was at Eden Park when Taylor scored 100 against India and I’ll never forget it. Nor will I forget following the 2007 T20 v Australia and almost crying when he got Zim over the line. He has made mistakes but he was the author of some of the greatest moments in Zim cricket history.

Sean Williams, Sikander Raza and Brendan Taylor are all among my top 15 favourite players ever. Tough to vote between them. Have gone for Sean who is under-rated a lot. Has saved Zimbabwe many times on his own with bat or ball, just like Raza does now and Brendan did earlier.

Hard choice but Heath Streak imo. I also think Ray Price should be on the list (he got as high as no 2 in the bowling rankings).

An all time Zim ODI XI would pretty useful thanks to several quality allrounders, power finishers with Raza, Streak, and Blignaut and a very good spin attack. It would also be a good fielding side.

Ray Price was a test spinner. Not particularly good ODI spinner. Paul Strang was probably the best spinner they had.

An ATG XI for Zim in ODI would go as

N. Johnson, G. Flower, S. Williams, A. Flower, B. Taylor, C. Erwine, S. Raza, H. Streak, P. Strang, E. Brandes, H. Olonga

Nice to see some of the former names replaced by current lot. That shows there is an improvement. The worrying part is there has no one to replace the pace bowlers. Streak probably will stay there, probably Brandes too. But no good spinner since Strang is worrying.

Muzarabani will be better than Brandes. You can make a case Ngarava is almost as good as Eddo.

Ray Price played after Strang, and if you have Raza and Williams you don't really need another spinner.

I would have thought that Brandes would have been slightly ahead of Olonga as far as a best ever Zim ODI XI, although it is certainly a close run thing. Willing to defer to somebody who clearly knows more about Zimbabwe cricket history than myself here thouhj

Definitely think Muzarabani will likely surpass both though if he continues along the lines he is

Strang was the only quality spinner I saw in ZIM side. Only one historically better than him was probably Traicos. Strang had some Indian batsmen flummoxed during his playing days, which even Warne did not manage. He was a quality bowler, lacked support from pitches as well as from captain. Zimbos rarely knew how to use an attacking spinner.

For pacemen, I would wait till their careers are over.

Ray Price was a quality ODI spinner. He was extremely economical like Vettori.
Cremer was also decent as is Raza.

Price played in a much better batting era than Paul Strang yet had a significantly better economy rate (3.99 vs 4.37). Strang was a handy bat and a very good fielder though.

ATG ODI side for Zimbabwe

N. Johnson
G. Flower
A. Flower (wk)
A. Campbell (c)
B. Taylor
S. Williams
S. Raza
H. Streak
A. Blignaut
R. Price
B. Strang

The likes of Blignaut and Streak could be promoted to boost the run rate if required.

Grant Flower can support too, with Johnson being another pace all-rounder.

Yes, Paul Strang was very good. I will probably have Murray Goodwin ahead of Craig Ervine and bat him at 3 for more solidity.

Johnson, G.Flower, Goodwin, Taylor, A.Flower, Sean Williams, Raza, Streak, Brandes/Blignaut, P.Strang, Muzarabani will be my team.

That team bats to 10 and has loads of all-rounders.
