Yeah Aus I wouldn’t have minded losing any non Ashes/BG matches in the mid 00’s, except for that bit where we almost beat the consecutive wins record.

I have some sympathy with this point of view, though it is Australia, so am unable to agree

The only two occasions I really wanted England to lose were when we slowed the game down in 1979 to stop India getting that 400+ fourth innings target, and six years earlier when New Zealand fell just short of something similar
