If this pitch were served up in Pakistan, India or Australia none of you would tolerate any talk of this not being an highway. There's been half an hour of seam movement before lunch and that's been it.

Look at the sort of shots these two are playing and the confidence with which they can hit through the line of the ball for even good length deliveries. there’s zero assistance for the bowlers on here, just look at the stat already posted. the occasional ball misbehaving doesn’t turn it into a balanced pitch

have English fans forgotten what their pitches are like for some reason?

Wow we've got one cricinfo contributor saying about one shot, you completely win the argument.

Look it's flat, it's the first day of a test it's meant to be pretty flat, there have been balls that deviate though, it is no flatter than about 50% of test matches I've watched on the first day.

Oh and they've been playing without any thought of what the pitch may do, since Bazball started, it's just what they do.
