Official - Road to Ashes 2023

The highlight for me was SA scoring 330-ish and winning by an innings and a few runs.
Strange habit this, the likes you and Burgey have, focusing on individual matches within series like they mean jot in the grand scheme of things.

Winning series is what matters. Australia can’t do it in England. It’s also why the WTC is a worthless piece of trash (until we win it)

...but England hasn't won an Ashes series since 2015?
What’s your point?

We have been terrible away since our grand victory. Obviously there are extenuating circumstances for
each subsequent defeat* (Mitchell Johnson suddenly becoming good was a form of cheating, ball tampering, and unreasonable covid restrictions) but nobody disputes this. But Australia haven’t won here since 2001. It’s a very long time and weasel man Burgey tries to get round this by pointing to individual match victories like they’re of any relevance.

*Due to these circumstances, the official CW position is indeed that England holds the Ashes thanks to our 2023 & 15 victories as we haven’t legitimately been beaten since.

Mate, I congratulate you. In a battle of two very weak teams, yours came out on top.

If only we’d beaten someone else in the same summer. Like NZ and India. And then whitewashed Pakistan away and drew away to NZ.

no mate you cling to an individual match loss in a run of series wins

It's a powerful narrative. I'm on board!

No mention of Australia's abysmal away record over the last 8 years. Just the one series win in Pakistan to speak of as far as I can work out (and England showed how fairly straightforward winning there should be).

But yeah, they're just going to waltz in to a country that should've won 11 of its last 12 games and smash it (and they're focusing on the 1 out of 12).

Should've won?

Yep, that’s exactly what they’re going to do.
