I don’t have high hopes from Australia touring England. Reckon they will get demolished.

Main reason is Smith’s decline.
I am more concerned with the bowling. They are pretty good when things are going there way, but it feels when someone takes the attack to them they are unable to figure out how to stop it. Having a whole team come hard at them might show them up. Can't wait to see which way this goes though.

Yeah, England even managed to bazball light us in the last 2 ashes tests last year at a few points and we looked clueless, luckily we where way on top in both games to start. Don't wanna see what happens when a more confident ENG lineup do it at home.

Does this WTC win for Australia change anything?

Or would an Ashes victory make them the best?
I don't feel like Aus are anything special but they are probably better than everyone else atm. India at full strength and home conditions would obviously destroy them though

Easy to forget how close we were to a series loss at home against Australia. That sweepathon really gift wrapped it for us.

Seriously though any bowler with 2 brain cells to rub together should figure out that once he gets to 10 or 15 just bowl at his body and he won't have a clue what to do

Series loss wasn't on the cards.

But I do think India chickened out by preparing a draw pitch for the last test.

You guys didn't have pant, iyer or bumrah for most of that series tbf. Missing your two best bats abd your best pacer will make any team look crap.
Pant and Bumrah really can’t be included in this conversation anymore. They’re out

Whatever it takes!!!
Going forward I just don’t think you can include them in potential line ups and so forth
That is different but we are talking about teams for this cycle and I think it is fair to include them given how crucial they were to the team for so long in this cycle.

I agree that for the upcoming cycle we cant really consider them.

Rahane has been in decline since 2017. Pujara has been in decline since 2019. And Virat has been in decline since 2021. Now looks like Rohit has joined them to keep the odd year tradition going.

I honestly think we should try new players at least in the Windies. In fact, BCCI should look at possibility of adding one more test even if it means pre-poning the tour by a week. 3 tests with a mostly young side should be a good way to start the new cycle.

Rohit
Jaiswal
Gill
Virat
Sarfraz (??)
Kishan
Jaddu
Ash
Shardul
Shami
Siraj

with Umesh, Unadkat, Axar, Ruturaj, Bharat, SKY as backups. In fact, I will select Samson as the backup keeper ahead of Bharat. He played 5 tests and it seems obvious what his ceiling is both as a keeper and as a batsman.
