I think the question here really should be the technology, NGL. The frame by frame footage they showed for the different angles looked like it was filmed on a 2008 motorella razer camera. I don't see how a third umpire can draw ANY conclusions from that. Are they using the best tech available?

I mean thankfully CW is a hub of sanity on this topic but yeah this is going to drive people bananas for the next god knows how long because they can apparently infer that the ball touched the ground from a single camera 60m away.
Those sort of theories are why I’m so invested in doing the jfk conspiracy tour in Dallas in august

I think theres some grey area in the rules about when a player actually has "control" of the ball that I've always found a little dodgy (Gibbs actually completed the Waugh catch etc.) but if you overturn the green catch you might as well just outlaw any catch below the ankles. Its only dumdums crying about this one.

I can't find the exact footage i'm looking for, but a month ago sandeep sharma got rohit out with a slower ball that some angles showed the keeper knocking off the bails and not the ball while others showed the ball dislodging the bails. Optical illusions are a common occurrence and drawing any kind of conclusion from grainy, 30fps 144p slow mo footage is insane to me.

Whatever it takes!!!
Meh game was gone anyways.

My gut feeling is such catches should be ruled out. But I also recognize had it been an Aussie batter and Indian fielder, most Aussie fans would have been up and down about this being given out too. C'est la vie.

As long as the umpires are consistent across the ICC games in ruling such catches out, I think it would be ok.
