This Ashes definitely has Cold War vibes to it ..
England trying to push their Bazball ideology to the world and Australia the old guard trying to cement their status once again as the superpower of Test Cricket ..

Do Australia find this entertaining beating up a team absolutely decimated by injuries?🤔

Locals in london in singlets while Ussie stands in the sheds in a beanie and dressed like he’s going to look for Shackleton’s Endurance. I suppose that’s relativity.
being in London as early as this morning (now in Amsterdam), can confirm this -****ing warmer in Sydney in winter ffs

Commentators extolling the virtues of test cricket and it's attritional qualities sounds more and more desperate every year.

Obviously Australia's day.

India didn't bowl well enough which given most of them haven't played much red ball cricket recently isn't surprising.

Good knock from Warner and Smith does what Smith does. Great knock from Head but he was helped by some average bowling.

Hopefully this knocks on the head some of the nonsense about English pitches. This was a typical English test match pitch- help early on for the seamers but it was basically a good batting deck.

The ball is only 5 overs old and should do a bit tomorrow morning. If India don't make inroads, they'll be chasing leather until the Aussies declare after tea some time.
