Do people really think Smith isn't batting well? He's not scoring freely which stands out more when head is motoring along, but he's looked perfectly solid imo.
Does perfectly solid include an edge falling just short of second slip?

I mean, I've seen him look somewhat more fluent than this...

Without a doubt that was Head's session. He came in early in the session after the fall of Labuschagne...
No wonder he is Duckett's inspiration.

It was a good ball and he managed to keep it down. Happens in England. Australian fans are just greedy wanting him to bat like the 2019 ashes every series.

Very good session for Aus.

Things coming apart for England really - prepare something greenish hoping Aus would fall apart and India would help them out by putting some terrors in our batting line up.

Instead, Warner gets a start, Smith does Smith things by having an extended hit out for a couple of sessions and Travis Head has laid down a marker of the living ****ing hell he is going to put the Poms through this summer.

Cummins, Starc and Boland will will get to roll the arm over on this two paced thing at some point and send the fear of god through the hack fraud line up which England are going to put out by getting sideways movement at something more than the half rat power the Poms have faced for the past 12 months.

Should call it off and let us play a six test series vs india over there on neutral territory to make a contest of things.

It isn’t like he didn’t play and miss in 2019 anyway, but the ultimate irony of course is any England supporter bitching about someone batting aggressively who averages 45 in test cricket over a decent sample size when they’re trotting out a top seven, five of whom are incapable of playing a forward defensive shot.

When one of your own blokes does it you call it “soft hands”, when it’s the opposition they’re a lucky so and so. That’s cricket spectating tbf.

Yeah he’s been fine. Pitch was doing stacks early on and he handled it as well as anyone could be expected to tbh.

Ashwin could’ve played just as a batsman and still been more valuable to the side than ****ing Rahane…
