Jack Leach out of the Ashes

Anderson, Broad, Robinson and Wood looks really good and would make me feel far better about Stokes not bowling.....but Root being the only spin option might negate all that.
Jacks or Dawson to open the batting. Probably won't make less than Crawley, might as well.

What will we need a spinner for, they’ll be all out within 30 overs

That's gotta be the most likely attack now I think.

Looks decent. (Over rates will not be decent.)

If we do go down the Dawson route or even Dom Bess, at least it will improve our lower order and we'll have a half decent number 8.

Nobody likes to see injuries but Leach was a massive weak link for England anyway and team will probably be better without him

Head, etc would probably have smashed him just as they did in Australia

Keep hearing Moeen Ali's name coming up as a replacement but I'd be amazed if he was interested.

I dunno, it's kind of an emergency and not sure he's doing much else this summer.
He seemed disillusioned about his time playing rest cricket but I suppose if anyone can persuade him to change his mind it's Baz and Ben.

I think with Moeen, he's only really a viable option if Stokes can bowl.

Mo was never the most economical of bowlers and in a 4 man attack, its a big risk to go with Mo.

I'd go with a 4 man pace attack unless we're confident Stokes can bowl a fair few overs.

If he can, I'd go with Liam Dawson or Mo.

Will Jacks and Dan Lawrence to share spin.

Jacks Duckett Pope Root Lawrence Bairstow Stokes Broad, Wood, Robinson Anderson

That's a big blow. If Stokes isn't able to bowl then we could well see 5 bowlers, Jacks + Woakes, yes?

I had never heard of a spinner getting stress fractures in the back until Sangha, Kuhnemann and Leach got them in the last 12 months

Murali & Warne bowled a million overs each and never had them & they actually tried to turn the ball whereas guys like Leach just roll their arms over

I can only assume that everyone is being tested nowadays and most bowlers get them at some point so they’re being picked up more regularly
