What sort of batting skill is passable for numbers 7-9?
Haha I understand why you might ask this given your current lower order prowess / Hlengwinsanity.

Loads. 7's not far off a specialist bat, 8 should be 30+ skill, and 9 should be 25+. It all depends on what's available, however, and setting rules in stone in such an instance is highly counterproductive IMO.

I need to move away from Kudesia. Ghous has overtaken him in skill now and my two leading DEV prospects are 49 & 50 POT spinners.

Ghous has 31 POT with the bat but is 15/3/13.

Hlengwa at 7 with 4 x 16-20 after him doesn’t fill me with joy.

Realistically will be replacing Hlengwa with Ghous as the ultra aggressive 8 but then need to acquire a seam bowling all rounder to bat 7 take Hlengwa’s overs.

I can safely say that Mooo and GG are out of any playoff contention in CWC.

It was fun guys.

Just hoping to spoil the other teams' party...

Safely??? We are just half way through the season, there are 13 games and 65 points to play for and you sit in 7th spot, 2 points off a play-off place and with a Top 6 XPV - i think there's a bit of the old reverse kidology going on there from the doe-eyed dear old cow, lulling us into a false sense of security....:naughty:

I think 5th to 10th (so 6 teams ) have realistic and high hopes of 2 of the play off spots based on their abilities and current points , not least everyone is still to play each other again ... we barely got started!

Was about to say similar Moo only 2 points adrift of 3rd to 6th playoffs so well in the hunt at halfway stage. GG CC 2 wins away with 13 to play

Only thing we can safely say is my teams won't be in playoff reckoning! Hoping we can be party poopers for a couple of sides at least though

I said what I said.

My teams are both declining...I am developing with the youths. So, from this perspective I made my previous comment.

This brings squad building into the discussion . I prefer a longer batting lineup . Thus Batting all rounder in top 5 , that makes space for another specialist batsman . If possible a specialist bat at 7 with the trait finisher will make a impact or very strong attack at least, some like a specialist keeper at 7 with very high keeping skill and maybe 30 odd batting . Thus bowling all rounders at 8 and 9 . However there is other approaches and ways to build a squad . However you will see most of the top teams run a very strong lower order rating , No 3 in the game is rocking a 51 rating for his tail . This is a very interesting topic and one with many answers .

Understood mate , but you never know what boat the other teams are also in. From an external perspective currently your teams are both still on the rise in terms of CWC games according to the XPV. There's really not much in most games in this format hence most end up as 4.1 results - even games that get away from us or fall into our lap at the end generally turn on a couple of wickets - which suddenly put the brakes on or a few slashes and suddenly one over goes for 24 and changes the complexion.

Take the Orangutans (my dark horse for the 2nd half) in 8th - I don't see them ending the season there - they have been very unlucky given the quality of management and players. This is maybe represented by the big number of bonus points they have gathered in , suggesting they have just been on the wrong end of some very close results but are nearly always competitive -that 5-8 in the first half could easily flip to 8.5 (or more) in the second without any great changes ...take ❤ !

As that great cricketer Will Shakespeare said 'There's many a slip between cup and lip' ..and we havent even filled the cup yet!

I definitely like a solid #8 in 50 over cricket. I feel it's more important to have 20 quality overs of bowling in T20s.

Batting depth is always an asset tho

I guess I can take some optimism from this. But, I don't think I will continue to persist with some of the dead-weights in both teams. Something drastic will happen. The youths are gonna have to fill the void and learn the school of hard knocks!

TNT lack batting depth... they lucked into 5 high quality bowlers, and I`ve stuck with them just to see how it goes but also to provide long term options. But the squad lack a genuine allrounder. I am hoping that when the team develops fully I have saved enough to buy something of decent quality to take the squad up another level to be very competitive.

You may notice that TMOs have been cut to the bare bones... I have a squad of 11 I am gonna stick with for the next 3 seasons pretty much. I`m even just using whatever I find as place fillers for dev team... with no plans to buy dev players at all.

Wow didn't know that - just looked and saw you have 15 players ( I thought there was minimus limits of 11 Youth and 16 total squad- clearly was wrong!) - that's so tough from a Fitness perspective but what a beautiful set of Potentials!!! you will fast track an incredible team in 2 or 3 seasons!

Yeah. It takes some sacrifice...after building up a team and all they do is lose.

I've had 12-14 players in the TNT squad for 3 seasons now.

I feel TMOS got very unlikely to be relegated from SOD div 2 last season (EUAFR is tough)... did not deserve it particularly particularly when you take into account I made the top 8 of the Cup. But this cleanout needed to happen regardless, else I was gonna be stuck with players that stopped developing and could not take me higher. But I have become ruthless.

I'm too sentimental ! Hurts to toss aside players I have cared for since they smoked their first fag behind the training nets - from boy to man!

Thanks God we don't have avatars or I would get even more attached and have a team of 35 year olds.

On a serious note though - I do note that experience can really be quite an impact so that when i really try to strip out how one player is preforming against another in real tough matches in the season I find a 30+ guy whose actuals are 2-3 less that a 22 year old is still performing better in terms of runs/ wkts when it matters

Saying that poor old Kelly is beginning to look like a toothless tiger as our RF spearhead - anyone got a quickie to sell ??!?!?
