Just wanna comment on 3

Clarke - not that bad at all and I just think people are fundamentally opposed to the bloke and not his commentary. Doesn't even really seem biased and at least has a positive attitude.

Pietersen - Seriously I think the bloke is mentally ill and it's unbelievable seeing low IQ narcissistic sociopathy being passed off as absolute madlad bants?

Ian Smith - terrible commentator miles passed his used-by date, consistently embarrassing attempts at patriotic "banter", has no idea about the game anymore, is massively biased, and yet....seems to have become regarded as a cool-headed commentary doyen???? wtf happened there?
Sums it up. Smithy showing an ounce of restraint to hide his favouritism during the super over hasn't won me over just yet

Clarke has a very matey, overfamiliar manner when talking about other players (particularly Australian ones, of course) that I find very annoying, although it was possibly worse just after he retired.

As I said in the world cup thread:
After listening to Clarke, I've decided on a new rule for the employment of commentators:
- No ex-player can be employed as a commentator while anyone they have played with is still playing
He also doesn't know when to stop talking, particularly when saying something superficial and pointless.

i used to cringe at smithy but he had a genuinely great wc. he's built for the emotional moments.

nzs worst commentator is by far simon doull, especially since he traded in his gag reflex for an ipl gig.

every single indian commentator deserved to watch that semi after the 'performance' they put in. genuinely the worst ever commentary performance, and that's saying something given cricket as a rule is filled with dismal commentary.

cricket doesn't even do funny meme worthy biased like justin marshall, it's just sour puss crap or blatant snobbery.

i will sign off by saying in enjoyed michael clarke in this wc. terrible voice, good commentator. border is australias best behind the mic tho.

Yeah, I didn't think it was possible, but it seems from the IPL that Pietersen is actually getting worse.

I could have sworn I mentioned Brett Geeves here, but apparently not.

Ahh well, have now. Bloke is a complete and utter moron

KP is still top of the list.
Agreed, but pretty much any T20 competition has to be watched on mute for fear of hearing Danny ****ing Morrison!!

Looking forward to the Ashes and the gentle (and most often correct) musings of Atherton and Hussain. Wondering which Aussies will join up to replace Warne.

Also, I seem to remember Ian Smith was pretty bad when he was here, but I've heard worse.

I have a deep and abiding hatred of Damien Fleming. As Pietersen isn't usually here he's certainly my most aggravating at the moment. I can't bear the torrent of insipid cliches.

I know you can't help the way you talk but his whinning, nasally tone does my head in.

Plus he's unbelievably biased. I don't mind him being a bit pro Aussie but he's way OTT.

He'd better not be on TMS this summer.

Fantastic bowler, **** commentator.

Gambhir is another one who is just looking for excuses to minimize Kohli and Dhoni. I switch from English to Hindi or vice versa as soon as he comes on.

Harsha Bhogle would be another one but he is not an ex cricketer.

Often it's about the mix of the commentary team.

Sky had a great mix.a few.years back - Nasser and Atherton were quite analytical. Bumble could inject a but of humour and Warne and Holding were both experts in their discipline but also good communicators.

What I hate is ex great players given roles but are poor commentators - Botham springs to mind.

I can pretty much guarantee he is on TMS, I believe he's currently or about to be doing a run of theatre shows with Aggers and Henry Moeran.

I actually don't mind him. I think a lot of his pro-Aussieness was because he had to defend himself against Boycott. Speaks a lot of sense and seems pretty fair to me.
