I can't believe I ate the whole thing
And specifically:

New Zealand squad for Sri Lanka T20Is: Tom Latham (capt & wk), Chad Bowes, Mark Chapman, Matt Henry, Ben Lister, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Seifert, Henry Shipley, Ish Sodhi, Will Young

New Zealand squad for T20Is in Pakistan: Tom Latham (capt & wk), Chad Bowes, Mark Chapman, Matt Henry, Ben Lister, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Rachin Ravindra, Henry Shipley, Ish Sodhi, Will Young, Dane Cleaver, Cole McConchie, Blair Tickner

edited to remove Seifert from Pakistan squad

Especially weird when Latham (captain) and Cleaver are also going to Pakistan. Why pick 3 keepers?
Confusingly, Cricinfo listed Seifert as going to pakistan but then just noticed this:

The squad for the home T20Is against Sri Lanka comprises 13 players, and includes Tim Seifert, who won't travel to Pakistan as he and his wife await the birth of their first child.

Seifert Super Smash 245 runs @ 27, SR 143. Scores of 42 (23) and 51 (40) in elimination final and final. I wouldn't call this "utterly terrible".
Also had a pretty decent Ford Trophy: 349 runs @ 43.7 (s/r 91). I just think Clarkson offers more especially as Neesham (despite being picked and being one of our best) is not a long-term option.

Fair comments about Seifert’s form. I was thinking of his recent form in the Plunket Shield when I made my comment - he is averaging less than 20 across 16 innings in that competition this year. But I guess he does need to be judged against his short form appearances.

I really do not rate Seifert at all. Hope he proves me wrong.

I don't think it's a bad squad in general. Like most people I'd like to see Clarkson given a go, but that's it really.

I suspect the selectors wanted a like-for-like hitting opener to sub for Allen, rather than moving up Young or Ravindra or Latham. And I assume Cleaver will get to open in Pakistan.

Perhaps middle order of Young - Latham - Mitchell - Neesham - Ravindra, then 4 bowlers (3 quicks + Sodhi at home, perhaps 2 quicks + Sodhi + McConchie in Pakistan). Chapman might be unfortunately squeezed out of the starting XI by Latham's selection.

Fair point, I didn't know this was the case. His numbers in the round robin must've been pretty mud, though...I think a lot of us believe we've seen what he's capable of, and would prefer we see what other guys look like.

Especially Clarkson. Jeez, what more does he have to do? His Super Smash stats, for the record: 258 runs @ 36.85, two fifties, and a strike rate of 164.33.

Have a good Ford Trophy tournament. I actually suspect some players are named often because they end up in both L/O squads, and it saves NZC on flight costs, amongst other things (NZTs krazy kricket konspiracy). Clarkson scored 82 @ 11 and took 6 @ 21 (good) but as an all-rounder he's not making the ODI squad
