Dropping Nissanka from the squad is such a terrible and typical Sri Lankan thing to do though. Selectors have robbed Chandimal of about a third of a career with this sort of ****.

Yeah their policies are kinda weird , no doubt fuelled by politics which has plagued the Island nation

I mean Pathum is only 24 , has done fairly well in Tests with an excellent FC record but gets dropped for Oshada Fernando whose 6 years older and has a worse test average ...doesn't make sense

Drop a 24 year old who averages 38 in Tests and 61 in FC cricket for a 30 year old who averages 34 and 40 respectively because the former had two bad Tests against the #1 ranked team in the world.

Madushka or whatever his name is seems a real talent. He made a massive ton for a Sri Lankan development side in the England summer vs some decent bowlers then bossed the 4 day FC comp and Made runs vs England A including 2 big 100's recently. Hopefully he gets a run of games.

They're still picking him in limited overs cricket which he's had to kind of learn on the run, but they dropped him from Tests which he's always been naturally suited to because he had two bad Tests against Australia.

Yeah if they dropped Nissanka for him I wouldn't have agreed but I could see the logic given he's a bit of a prodigy. Both should be in the squad ahead of Oshada though.

Rain stopped - most forecasts except Metservice seem to imply windy and grey but no rain for the rest of the day. I'm choosing to believe
