This is a weird comparison for two batsmen who skill and career wise aren't anything alike. Its like making a Rohit Sharma vs Graeme Smith thread.

Both are top order batsmen , both have played most of their innings at No.3 in Tests ..In white ball cricket both would open the batting ..Only difference is Amla was a conventional bloomer ( hit peak around 25-30 then decline ) ...and Khawaja was a late bloomer who actually found more success opening the batting which supposed to be tougher as you get older .. I think Khawaja will end up with a higher test average than Amla with maybe 80 test matches under his belt which is more than enough to judge a players quality...So give this post time to grow ..The way Khawaja is batting he will finish his test career with a over 50 average.

Khawaja is already 36 though, same age as warner. Realistically how much longer does he have.

I'm gonna be honest I thought Khawaja had played alot less tests then he did, also forgot his overall record was as good as it is. Thought he was largely **** bar his opening stint but he's played 60 tests for an average of 48 and 14 100's. That with a decent chunk of his career being in the pace playing pandemic while opening.

Khawaja has been great for a couple of years but most of his career has varying from good to ordinary

Amla was great for nearly a decade IIRC

Not a close comparison
