I reckon I'd find a spot for Benaud.Barnes
Boycott
Bradman
Barrington
Border
Botham
Boucher
Bedser
Barnes
Bumrah
Bedi
Yeah Benaud in for Bedi or Bumrah would balance that side out really well. Botham-Boucher-Bedser at a 6-8 seems a bit weak.I reckon I'd find a spot for Benaud.
Yeah, I reckon this is spot on. Though I'd have Dougie or Frank Woolley at 12th man. But such a brilliant and well-balanced side that.Worrell opened a bit, so picked him as an opener. He and Waugh are the 5th and 6th bowlers.
Worrell
Woodful (Warner misses out)
Williamson
Walcott
Weekes
S Waugh (Walters misses out)
Watling (wk) (Wasim Bari misses out)
Wasim Akram
Warne
Waqar
Walsh (Willis & Wagner miss out)
Mark Waugh as 12th man/sub fielder
Lack of Wayne Phillips a travesty.Ponsford
Pujara
Ponting (c)
G Pollock
Pietersen
Proctor
Pant (wk)
S Pollock
Philander
Peel
Prasanna
He hasn't imoOn a serious note, is the consensus that Pant has already done enough to get in this side ahead of Prior? I suppose it must be, given that a lot of All Time India XIs now have Pant ahead of Dhoni.
You've got some room to move on those alternatives, because you've included a H and a J player in your XI.1 Bruce Mitchell
2 Hanif Mohammad
3 Peter May
4 Javed Miandad
5 Stan McCabe
6 Keith Miller
7 Brendon McCullum
8 Malcolm Marshall
9 Morne Morkel
10 Mutttiah Muralitharan
11 Glenn McGrath
Others: Mankad, Macartney, McMillan, McCool, Mathews, Mackay, Mahmood, McKenzie, Mushtaq Mohommad, Martindale, Marsh, Manjrekar
Thought about Mushtaq Mohammad or Mankad in for Morkel - would pull the trigger on that depending on the conditions.

I refer a bit to Victor Ian's point:You've got some room to move on those alternatives, because you've included a H and a J player in your XI.
We know Hanif's brothers were also Mohammads because they played with him.I don't get the naming convention. Is Kapil's brother also a Kapil, or a Dev? And if you cant have him, I guess you can have Imran.
Rod, lol.Mitchell or Sean?
Poor Mitch will just have to settle for being in the Alliterative XIRod, lol.
Yeah, that's a fair argument and TBH I've always thought it strange myself that the brothers Mohammad all belong to different alphabetical teams!I refer a bit to Victor Ian's point:

I think the argument is that surnames just aren't used much in some parts of the world, and in the last few couple of generations of globalisation have just been adapted by using the first names of people's fathers/grandfathers/etc. But I will say that's how we got names like "Stevenson" in the western world, and beyond that I'm not sure "what your male ancestor did for a living" is actually any more inherently descriptive.
So they count IMO.
If they don't count I'll roll with this:
1 Bruce Mitchell
2 Vinoo Mankad
3 Charles Macartney
4 Peter May
5 Stan McCabe
6 Keith Miller
7 Angelo Mathews
8 Brendon McCullum
9 Malcolm Marshall
10 Mutttiah Muralitharan
11 Glenn McGrath
Morkel unluckily finding himself dropped for balance reasons just because two other players don't count.
I definitely want to #batdeep if Mankad is opening though, and McGrath/Marshall/Miller/Murali/Mankad is still definitely enough bowling. All the rest bar May in the top 7 were good part-time bowling options too - Macartney probably even a bit better than that.
Hmmm, does he even make that...?Poor Mitch will just have to settle for being in the Alliterative XI
Whatever naming convention you use, Mustaq Mohammed is still available. I'd pick him instead of Angelo Mathews for team balance.I refer a bit to Victor Ian's point:

Wouldn't you pick B McMillan? (or C McMillan for that matter)Whatever naming convention you use, Mustaq Mohammed is still available. I'd pick him instead of Angelo Mathews for team balance.

Not sure we need the extra bowler with Mankad opening. Whichever allrounder you pick there they're gonna be the sixth best bowler in the team at best, so I'd rather go with the better bat in Mathews.Wouldn't you pick B McMillan? (or C McMillan for that matter)
Great side, and what a pace attack. But worth bringing in Anil Kumble for balance?Arthur Morris

This makes me realise I totally could've picked Morris in my M team but forgot about him somehow, lol.Arthur Morris
