Are you going to be playing with 'Kebab', 'Wasabi' and 'Kimchi'?playing in my league in western sydney, often there have been one or two teams that are most if not all comprised of subcontinental blokes every year in the grade, and most of the rest of the teams are all white fellas
one of the few mixed teams i’ve played against, the team was eight older white dudes and the three subcontinental blokes were each about 25-40. one of them worked uber, another was a taxi driver and the white fellas called em Uber and Taxi, respectively. it could well be that it started amongst those two guys, and so it was okay and that, but tbh it really didn’t feel that way lol. in saying that next yr i’m moving teams and starting a team up with some blokes from work and hs and we’ll be a fairly multicultural bunch which is cool
Club has big financial problems and he’s the biggest creditorSounds like Graves has the club over a barrel and his chairmanship presided over all this trouble. Now he wants back in, so the chances of any change are slim to zero. Strip them of test status.
Only cricket bats, or are other types allowed too (baseball, fruit etc.)?Vaughan is a **** and deserves everything bat that could possibly happen to him
One wold hope Joe Root will take the stand at this hearing, because he certainly still has questions to answer.Anyone following this today?
It strikes me as anyone's guess tbh.
I know the memory is not 100% reliable after 11 years (although clearly some things you can remember with high confidence).
Couple of things I noticed today:
* Rashid seemed to be struggling a couple of times under cross examination
* On the other hand, MV's barrister seems at one point to have been arguing that "you lot" could have just meant batsmen or bowlers, and at another point was saying (not sure where he was going with this) that "you lot" was widely used at Yorkshire by all ethnic groups of players to refer to other ethnic groups of players (perhaps this was intended as some kind of mitigation??? either way he seemed to be contradicting himself).
* I think a lot of things Rafik said about his memory coming back when he spent more time on it etc is entirely plausible (that's not to say that everything he's said is accurate though)
Whether Vaughan said it or not (and whether if so he was referring to players of asian descent or not), I do think that the suggestion (if that is part of what Rafik is alleging, which IIUC it is) that MV said there's too many of you lot, and then embarked on a exercise of communicating his dissatisfaction with this situation to the YCC hierarchy to ensure that less non white players were selected, would be absolute fantasy. But who knows.
what questions particularly? One wold hope Joe Root will take the stand at this hearing, because he certainly still has questions to answer.
there's no point in him turning up though if noone can decide what the questions are he needs to answer. There are many
The people have decided the questions, and there are many. Root has yet to answer them.there's no point in him turning up though if noone can decide what the questions are he needs to answer.
those people or you lot?Ask him if he ever used the words "those people" for a start
Joe strikes me as a "those people" kind of Yorkiethose people or you lot?
Probably have to go on a special course to understand the correct context in which the phrase 'those people' can be used.If Root is found to have said "those people", what should be the consequences for him?
apt I guess for this kind of threads subject matterWas good in the off season to see Ballance move back to his home of Rhodesia for a fresh start. He's always had a lot of pride in his country.
Have you ever said "those people"? Did you go on a course?Probably have to go on a special course to understand the correct context in which the phrase 'those people' can be used.
We all know he didn't though.
